shhhhh...JoshInRI just Feature-crossgraded to 6.0 from Silver 5.0

Hello hard working developers at Logos/Faithlife (and fellow Logosians)
I upgraded to 6.0 using the Feature Crossgrade option and my student discount. I was on Silver 5.0 previously and we just finished paying it off.
I will probably not weigh in with a zillion tiny review posts...but I will reply if I keep this version or if I return to 5.0 within 30 days.
I hope to use a HOLYday work bonus in the future (if I am blessed with one and longevity in my job) to add either Baptist Silver 6.0 or The Chaplain's Library if my funds permit it.
God bless your day and your use of this software as you read, teach, prepare and share God and His Biblical grace with others.
Glory to God...Jesus Lead On!

I am only going to share good things (some of my post readers just fell off their chairs I think):
I like the Factbook update and can get use to this new front page which has more content at the bottom rather than on separate pages now.
The pronunciation feature practically brought a tear to my eye (not being sarcastic either). It's that good and that welcome. In a perfect world, we get a chance to click on any English word in the future and it highlights and pronounces for us but Factbook does some of this now...yay!

Interesting. Hope its as much of a blessing to you as it is to me.

I couldn't find much reason to yearn for an equal Diamond upgrade, or even a Gold.
I have been blessed by this, and hope that you are also. At the very least, you have all of your L5 resources with a fresh new program upgrade (crossgrade). [:)]

Thanks for the reviews, just in time for my own big decision (I've done a tax deduction so my decision depends on if I will get the tax refund in time to pay my rent for the apartment on Nov. 28.)!

I like the Send to Kindle feature too but it needs a concise, easier, officially written by Faithlife-thread from Logos on how to do it please...perhaps even a video. (Yes I know there are some posts here so no need to link them everyone).
Its still a worthy feature. I am sure as I explore more updates in here will follow. I hope so as my wife when she sees the new bill will want a good explanation for the additional credit card charge "God bless her sweet soul" (as wonderful Christian comedian Chondra Pierce would say).
Blessings,
Joshuap.s. Erwin I year for the Baptist Silver upgrade as well as The Chaplains Library but Christmas is coming. Its stunning to me of all these years of having Logos I am finally starting to use it in earnest now. Greek and Hebrew scholar I am not (though I appreciate Logos could help some with that in the future).
Just the "common joe" type attending weekly Bible Study and doing the occasional sermon as a humble appreciative (that God would use me at all for His purposes) seminarian and hopeful assistant pastor wannabee from the little Ocean State of Rhode Island.

A new version being out is the worst explanation to give to my best friend and to my mum - they just get worried plus say that a new version of some Bible Study software comes out each year (which is not true, even Accordance won't release the next version during 2015, well except so far a new version of Logos/Verbum topical bundles has come out towards the end of each year since 2012). In fact I will probably not be able to tell them where my money went. (But like I said I'm still not sure I'll be able to do an upgrade.) I'm not wanting the complete features, so I would settle for Anglican Silver. What I don't like about it is all the media in databases on servers - with the kind of internet connection I have (and soon perhaps no internet at all any-longer) it's not feasible to use them plus I won't yet be a priest for many years to come:

the part that I think most people over look is that there is a specific address that must be added to your amazon account in order for your account to accept books.

Yes, its that extra bill that appears as a rose in the beginning, but slowly can turn into a thorn as time goes on. For that reason, in the future, if I can't pay for it in a short period of time, I will pass until I can pay for it all at once. [:)]
For me, it would be nice to have the Theological Journals, NICOT/NICNT, and match my current base package. Some I could really use, but with a sober mind, a lot is just "I would like to have".
I find a lot of benefit in Logos as I study each day. It helps me in my slow learning of Hebrew and Greek, my daily reading, and my intense study. Recently, I am really getting a lot of help in the area of sermon preparation.
Currently, I am blessed that God has used me to deliver HIS message in ministry through platform services. It is encouragement that growth is happening. I'm not an ordained minister, deacon, or pastor. Just a child of God who loves God, and wants to carry out the mission. About 20 some years ago, I was a member of the deacon board, but stepped down for various personal reasons. I still battle somewhat with perfection, but has come to terms with "for all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God". That's a topic for Christiandiscourse. [:)]
I am quite happy in the pew understanding what comes from God through the pulpit, however, when the call comes to move, I will definitely answer.
Now, back to Logos
I get a lot of benefit out of the Hebrew and Greek text read side by side with an English translation and doing right-click word studies. Although I am not a scholar of Hebrew or Greek, I have come to the point that now I really need to go right to the original languages.

Disappointed in this thing that supposedly creates slides. I expected to highlight something and have it auto-wonderfully populate a Microsoft Powerpoint slide. Fail.

Actually it pretty much does that. Highlight, right click, and choose visual copy. You can then choose to send it to Powerpoint. It seems slow today, but I assume that is because the server problem is not totally back to where it should be.

I know its tacky to reply to your own post but I thought I would check in and say I am keeping the upgrade despite NOT seeing any boost in performance our useful info found quickly in a group Bible Study on a Windows Surface Pro Tablet (pulling wifi from my phone).
I see the upgrade overall as not giving me much improved functionality for my normal use. Perhaps it will in the future.

A big change, is the UI of L6. I don't see much change in the resource usage, but I do like some of the new features (which probably could have been added to L5), such as the inline search. All in all, I'm happy with the feature upgrade.

My favorite two new features (so far) are:
- inline search (I didn't think I'd have any use for it at first, until I started using it, and wow, it's great!); and
- search for Highlighting: {Highlight *} to search for any highlighted text, or {Highlight Red Underline} to search for all your text that's highlighted with (for example) your "Red Underline" highlighting style.

Hi Josh,
Glad you like Logos 6! Here is a video that describes the Send to Kindle feature.

Merry Christmas everyone...thanks for the great replies (and great smiles in your photos).

A bit earl but merry Christmas to you too.... I am glad you are keeping 6.0 I personally find homepage faster, indexing too and maybe populating my passage guide. 6 is not so much a performance increase as a feature additions but as I said above for me there are minor performance improvements for me as well.

I am delighted with the feature additions in Logos 6. I think 6 is the best Logos ever.
