[resolved]reading plan confusion
Hi,
Since Logos 6 I can't see a way to do this... with Logos 5 I used to make a lot of reading plans. What I can't see how to do is to make a reading plan for a portion of a book but not the whole.
I want to make a reading plan to read KD II.2 § 33 this week. Is this possible?
Cheers,
John

Try selecting "Custom Reading Plan" and then select each section you want to read on separate days.
If that doesn't make sense please post back

I've played with the custom option but despite watching the quick start video and searching the wiki etc. No joy. I only manage to add one page at a time by dragging a panel onto the plan. Not sure what is meant by a short cut in context. In logos 5 it was an option to choose a page range?

That isn't available in Logos 6
. I only manage to add one page at a time by dragging a panel onto the plan.
The example below is from Church Dogmatics Volume 2. On the left of the screen I have the custom plan and on the right the open resource - you will note I have set the range in the resource to pages 3-20 as that is what I want to read in the first section
Selecting "Choose an open resource" in the plan allows me to add that portion
This results in
and when I click "Add Session" the first part of the plan is done
Note the date for the next session has automatically moved on to tomorrow (but this can be changed as required)
Repeating this process with each section you want allows you to create the plan
Does this help?

Gutted, that kinda solves it but a job which used to take moments will now take 30 mins. Seems like an awful regression. In logos 5 you could put reading plans one after the other for the flexibility. It really seems like they broke this...

In Logos 5 I don't remember being able to select a subset of a non-biblical resource for a reading plan
Do you remember something different?

Yes I did it a lot. When I was revising for exams I would select the portion of the grammar book we were studying and then use a reading plan to revise. I would also make plans for books which were required reading for our courses etc. You could put in page numbers as a page range, ie. start and end. Then choose a complete by date and which days of the week you'd like to read - almost as flexible as the Bible generated plans really.

Sorry - I had forgotten you could do that.

Can anyone from faithlife comment on whether this feature will return?

There is an open case to restore this missing feature. I don't have any information about when this will be fixed, but I have added this thread to the case so we can post when it has been resolved.

Thanks, I don't know if it's just me but I can't seem to create a custom reading plan at all. I can add sessions but it's like there is a missing save button. When I close the plan I made it is gone...

You are clicking the "Add session" button after specifying one or more readings? That will add the session to the list of readings at the bottom of the panel.
Can you post a screenshot of what your panel looks like just prior to closing it?

This should be fixed in 6.1.
