New MacBook Air, L6, & Download Problems

Help! I have just received my new MacBook Air. I have downloaded the Logos 6 engine but my 9Gig of resources are not downloading. It sits on 0% for ages. Can someone please help me out (in simple instructions please I am not a Mac native).

Question. If I downloaded Logos 5 first and then updated to 6 would I have these problems?

Surely this is not an ongoing problem between Mac and Logos?

No, they haven't. In fact, they seemed blissfully unaware of them, when I was talking to an Apple Sales Advisor last week … and he didn't even say that he would report/raise the issue with Apple tech people.

The work around helps some people and not others. Even with the workaround my recent download took about 30 hours to complete and index.

Since the MacBook Air does not have an ethernet connection. you would need a USB/ethernet or Thunderbolt/Ethernet connection to try a wired connection.

Do you have any of the above cables. If so turn off Wifi and give wired a try. It is easy enough to try if you have an available port and cables.

My workaround was wired. I think a 30 hour download/index indicates that it isn't always the answer.

Thanks everyone I really appreciate your help. I was rather frustrated at first. Not so much with Logos but with Apple.

As to the problem: I left it overnight and it downloaded it all well after I followed the workaround. Probably took about 5-6 hours. Being new to Mac I don't have any cords etc. so wifi is my only friend.

It is now indexing. Should the fan be running fast while it does this?

After all of this I wish my library wasn't so big!

Good show Mark - glad you are making progress. Hopefully things will go smoothly from here.

Indexing is pretty intensive and often makes the fans run - make sure the machine is in good air flow. Not on soft furnishings.

After all of this I wish my library wasn't so big!

I agree - if you contact Logos for $20 you can donate some bits to me. On the other hand full indexing (should be) is a one off thing for each computer and every update should require a lot lot less.

Thanks Mike. Downloaded and indexed over 12 or so hours. I cannot believe how fast this MacBook is. i7 with 8g Ram and 500G SSD. I thought it would be quick but not this quick.

Now, are there any other Mac issues I need to be aware of?

'Mac issues with Logos' are really 'Logos issues with Macs' and they stem from the system not taking advantage of some of the basic facilities that the Mac offers in its OS.

The word look up facility that I have been banging on about is a case in point.
