Jing for iPad?
Does anybody know of an app similar to Jing (taking quick screen caps) for the iPad?

On the iPad just use the power and home buttons at the same time to capture what's on your screen.

I don't want to capture the whole screen. I want to capture a section of my Bible text as a pic to insert in my Notability app where I can mark it up with pens, in my sermon notes.
Why don't I just highlight the text I want and paste it into a text box? Well, that's what I'm doing now, but highlighting in Logos doesn't simply allow a copy/paste; it automatically applies the last highlighting style which then has to be deleted. Who knows if I'm creating entries in some Notes file somewhere.
Here's a screenshot of a page from my sermon notes from last week so you can see what I'm doing. The text in the text boxes was copied from Logos (and I then had to delete the highlights, which costs me time, and the pastor talks fast).
Basically, I want a fast, easy way to copy a block to insert in the app to mark up and increase the value of my notes. (LOVE the Notability app, BTW.)

I don't know the answer to your question. There <might> be something which will let you do this, but I don't know. Apple believes in "sandboxing" applications... what you are asking would require a secondary app to be in use while the Logos mobile app is active. Apple has begun to allow some apps to gain more freedom to interact with other apps... but honestly, I just don't know.
If I were trying to do this? I would just take the screen shot (of the entire screen) and crop the picture after the fact.

Thought about that. But (a) I don't know the easiest way to crop the pic quickly and insert it in the Notability doc, and (b) was hoping to avoid a lot of editing in the process.
Any hints? Apps to use, quick tricks in iOS, etc.?

I don't know if you can crop directly within Notability or not... I would be surprised if you can't, but I don't use that app. [:s]
If you can't crop within Notability, it isn't difficult to edit within the iOS photos app. Just click "edit" and move the handles. If you mess up, it always keeps the original which you can revert to.

It is found under the columns option.

Or as an alternative to Doc's suggestion
If you "double-tap" a word you get a popup-menu with some drag handles. You can use these to select a range of text and then tap the Copy button.
(This basically provides the functionality before the "swipe-to-highlight" capability was introduced)

I tried those handles in the past...they rarely worked...jumped all over the place. Maybe I have fat fingers. But I couldn't get them to work. I'll try again.

The "old" behavior was that you made a section, selected "highlight," chose your style and folder, and then the highlight was applied. The "new" behavior means that you select text and the last used highlighting style is (supposed to) be automatically applied. This behavior is much faster for those who highlight frequently, using the same highlighter, to the same folder. It was MUCH requested. I didn't like it at first but have become accustomed to it.

Are you using a "mini" or a regular iPad? Also note: The left "handle" is on the top left. The right "handle" is on the bottom right.

Doc ... I do what you're wanting to do. Don't know if you can use my method. I use Notability, primarily to catch passages, comments, etc for later use in my Bible study. I don't try to 'copy text'; it's a pain.
1. As Ryan above notes, you do a normal iPad screen capture (power button plus the button at the bottom at the same time). This puts the image in your Photos which is a standard app on all iPads etc. It'll be in the 'Camera Roll' directory (again where all camera pics go).
2. If you select your screen capture, you'll see 'Edit' in the top-right of the screen. Click on that.
3. If you look at the bottom, you'll see a clip icon; select that. The next view looks like jail bars and a angle-thing at the base. You use 2 fingers to zoom what you want to keep with in the jail bars. The angle-thing lets you change the angle. You can also move the edges of the jail bar corners. After you get it right, select 'Done' in the lower right corner. It will return you to the previous view of your capture.
4. In the lower left you'll see the 'save somewhere' symbol; if you select that, you'll then see a 'copy'. Select that, and then paste in your Notability or any other of your apps.
If this sounds complicated, it's not, since it's just doing what Apple designed for taking pictures.

It's quite easy with Notability.
Here is what I do.
1. In Logos app, do a screen capture as you usually do to capture a screen on the iPad. This will put it in the Camera Roll.
2. Swipe back to Notability and select the "+" to add Media. Select Photo and select the folder, Recently Added. Select the photo which should be the last one in the list.
3. You will be returned to Notability with the photo placed on the canvas in Edit mode.
4. Select Edit on the top bar across the photo that list options such as Edit, Disable Text Wrap, Cut, Copy, Paste.
5. This will bring up the Drawing editor and one of the options is to crop the image. Simply crop and select Done. You will be returned to your note with your image now cropped.
