NASB Formatted Differently from Others?
Hi, I'm surprised that I can only get the NASB to format in separate verses instead of flowing in paragraphs. Is it me or is it the only way to display the NASB? My other Bibles can display in a paragraph style.
Bibles such as the KJV or NKJV will flow the way I want them to:
I do know about the Logos 6's option, "One Verse Per Line," but that is unchecked in my NASB window.
I like to work in NASB but I'm sure getting tired of its refusal to display two sequential verses back-to-back so it flows well for reading.
Thanks!
Greg

I don't use the NASB, so I went and checked. It's not just you...mine formats the same way.

Hi Greg-
the NASB translation is officially "line by line," so it is presented this way in the text. There are copywrited editions in paragraph form, but logos hasn't produced those copies. If they did, it would be a different resource. I think it's unlikely logos would carry it.

That being said, the bold verse numbers do indicate a new paragraph. [Y]

Thanks to all of you! I'll move forward knowing it's not just some crazy setting I haven't properly set.
I've used Logos for years but typically set my Bible views to 3-columns. In that mode, the NASB appears a little more "paragraphy." Now that I've returned to wanting one single, wider column the line-by-line NASB really stands out and got me concerned about it.I always appreciate your help!

if you have the NASB 77 it displays in paragraph- I use it along side my 95- I wish there was a paragraph version of the NASBU, would buy it in a heart beat.

I just upgraded to Logos 6 from Logos 3, and to my great disappointment realize that the NASB version is single verse format. With the amount of passages that I copy and paste into powerpoint, this is almost a game changer. Why would they have the paragraph format in version 3 but not in version 6?

welcome!
are you sure you are using the same resource? Do you have the 77 like was referenced?

Try clicking visual filters on the toolbar, ( the 3 circle icon) then be sure "Bible text only" is unchecked.

Are you sure you're comparing the same versions? As Whyndell said above, both the original (1977) version and the updated NASB (1995) are available in Logos. The original is in paragraph format, but I'm pretty sure the NASB95 resource has always been one verse per line, which is how the print copies are too. If you had a license to the original NASB, then you should still have access to it in Logos 6. However, the NASB95 is the main supported one that has an interlinear.

Also, if you were using L3, you might need to do something to make sure your old resources are included in L6. (I never used L3 and am a Mac user... I <think> I read that you might need to do something, but I might be wrong. I have been before.)

If you were using L3, you needed to synchronize your resources with the server on a regular basis so that Logos knew about your current licenses. It's possible that some things could get missed if this didn't happen every time new resources were installed. Plus, the L3 license server isn't available anymore. Customer service would be needed to resolve any L3 license issues now.

What is interesting is that many of the other major Bible software packages have the NASB 1995 in paragraph form.

I found that I am able to buy the 1997 version, which is in paragraph format, for $25. But I'd like to avoid that version as the poetic texts include the thees and thous as well as some minor differences in translation throughout. It just doesn't make sense, as I am sure that in version 3 I had NASB 95 in paragraph format. That was this morning before I upgraded. It's just hard to accept considering the amount of money invested and the amount of time I spend using the program.

Just out of curiosity... can you grab a screen shot?

I am upgraded now, so I can't use the old program. I had version three with the free upgrade to 4 (same texts as version three).

I am pretty sure. The only think I could think of otherwise is that i had the 95 in my search and the 77 in my reading, and it is simply a case of delusion on my part. But I've got hundreds of Word documents with paragraph formatted texts copied out of NASB. There are no thees and thous in the poetic sections, indicating the 95 update. If this is the closest I come to tribulation all week I guess I'm doing just fine after all.

Just to avoid confusion (and fingers crossed as Alabama crosses streets), Libby (Libronix) runs happily along with Logos6 .... that is, assuming a 32 platform. Libby's Bellingham server is another issue of course; one needs Libby's license file.

Zachery, hope you don't think we're arguing with you .... I for sure would like NASB95 to allow paragraph style, if indeed it were possible.
Below is what Libronix delivers to Word. The first paragraph is a simply copy/paste; apparently the carriage returns don't copy.
The second paragraph uses Libronix's Bible Verses, with paragraphing selected (over-rules NASB's formatting).

I'm not sure what your first comment means. I don't know what to think anymore. I feel like you guys are convincing me that I'm insane. But I used the NASB 95 almost exclusively. The first thing I noticed when I got the new program was "oh, the format is different," and spent a half hour trying to change it. I'll have to go check my old discs from version 3 and see if I was reading from the 77 version. But someone else commented that other Bible programs do have the 95 in paragraph format, so if any Logos people are listening, maybe it can be worked in the future. That's all I got. Thanks for the comments.

Also, if it makes any difference I was officially using version 3, but had taken the free upgrade to version 4. Crossover or whatever you call it. Later.

So, I haven't had libronix on my computer in years.

I wish Lockman provided a paragraph version- I use NASB95 and have for almost 20 years now.
Maybe time to start a petition

Sorry it feels that way. That wasn't the intent. The misunderstanding came from your statement:
Zackary Eugene Opheim said:I just upgraded to Logos 6 from Logos 3
For clarification: "Logos 6" and "Logos 3" refer to software applications... Logos Faithlife kind of confuses things by their base package nomenclature... which is annoying at times. [:s]
In any case, you can upgrade or update your software... (L3/L4/L5/L6) and you can purchase a new base package. It sounds like you went from the L4 software to the L6 software through the purchase of either a new base package or crossgrade. Is that right?

I don't know what to say... except that you can find threads about the NASB formatting going back to L4 days, so this isnt a new change to L6.

Also, just to make sure you are aware: The software is always free, but some of the new features will require a purchase to make them run. You could have updated your software to L5 a couple of years ago for free. In February, the L6 engine will be made free to everyone as well.

NASB95 is my default Bible, and I don't care about having paragraph format. Don't mind others having it as long as it isn't forced on me.
