As a British user, why can't I buy either of the Anglicised NIVs?
Logos currently lists two Anglicised NIVs in the search results, but both of them say "This product is no longer available" when I try to click on them (I have a UK-based account). What gives?
This is my personal Faithlife account. On 1 March 2022, I started working for Faithlife, and have a new 'official' user account. Posts on this account shouldn't be taken as official Faithlife views!

Odd. They don't show up for me in that set of search results, however when I change the search to look for anglicised, it finds them. However as with you, they turn out to be products that Faithlife no longer sells. So they shouldn't be showing up in the search results. I happen to already own the 1984 Anglicised NIV, so it certainly was offered for sale at one point, but no longer. I think it had to do with the flap over the gender-neutral language. Zondervan pulled their Anglicised version after pressure from conservative evangelical groups in the US that didn't like the changes. They are still available in print form from secondary vendors but not new from the likes of Amazon.

Hmmm, when I go to it, it says it IS available, but that I can't purchase it because I live in the USA.

I bought my anglicised NIV some years ago at a Wesley Owen shop (CD-ROM with Libronix version and code). Whether they still have that available, I can't say.

I am a UK user and have just tried to buy it. When I clicked for details it said it was not available but when I just went to buy it everything went through fine. Hope that helps.

I already own the 1984 UK version and I am able to add the 2011UK version to my shopping cart. My account as you can see is Australian based.

We've managed to negotiate a revision on the contract that allows us to sell these volumes to all customers worldwide, so I've fixed the website to allow them to be sold to anyone.

One of the reviewers of the 1984 NIV Anglicised version wrote that it is not completely linked to Logos as other translations are. I know this is true for the NIV84 I picked up on LLS disc and synced to my account, which does not have much tagging. I sometimes wonder if it did have more tagging at one time that was removed in a fairly recent update (possible license issue?). Does this Anglicised version have more tagging than the US NIV84, anyone know?

Mark - I already own the 1984 UK and the web site would let me purchase the 2011 if I wanted, I wonder if you have somehow been relocated geographically or maybe it's because you are in Wales!

I don't know what you mean with "not much tagging" - as far as I know, there's only one version of the NIV84, regardless of where you picked it up, it should always be the latest version ( LLS:1.0.10 / 2014-10-30T03:55:23Z / NIV.logos4 ) - or do you mean that it has no reverse interlinear? This is true for bibles from CD-ROMs, since the RI for the US NIV is a separate resource, coming with base packages. I'd assume that UK NIV doesn't have any, too.

Like KS4J I am wondering what this person was referring to.The only difference I am aware of is that there is no Reverse Interlinear for the NIV84 Old Testament. It was never produced as the NIV2011 came out before the work was completed.

I don't know of any specific examples in the text. I just read a long time ago that there'd been some concern that newer editions of the NIV made gender-neutral changes that some people weren't happy with. I probably could find you an article about that, but as NB.Mick points out, this wouldn't be the place to discuss it anyway. But I'm sure you could google and find out what the flap was all about if you wanted to.

Like KS4J I am wondering what this person was referring to.The only difference I am aware of is that there is no Reverse Interlinear for the NIV84 Old Testament. It was never produced as the NIV2011 came out before the work was completed.
The Anglicised versions don't have Reverse Interlinears at all, so I use the international versions for any word studies etc, but the Anglicised versions for reading and pasting text into slides, academic papers, teaching and sermon notes, etc. Some people in my congregation get very iffy when I put up a slide with words ending in "or" instead of "our", not to mention all the "ized" instead of "ised" spellings! One of the competitor products (not the A-company) does have RIs for the Anglicised versions (or used to when I used their product up until a couple of years ago).

I must say I wish all my English Bibles in Logos used British spelling,
but I realise that the company is based in America,
and that the vast majority of their resources are made for that target market/audience.0 -
Long time Faithlife customers who have upgraded consistently will likely have the RI dataset for the NIV84 NT. This was promised and delivered for the initial release of Logos 4. Subsequent releases and upgrades do not include NIV84 or the relevant RI dataset.

I've always assumed that Logos doesn't service the Anglicised NIV in the same way as the Americanised versions is because they have negotiated the rights with Zondervan (which holds production copyright for the US and Canada only) and not with Hodder & Stoughton (who contol the production rights for the rest of the world). The labour involved in negotiating the rights to play around with the text is probably not justified by the small demand from the potential user base.

On the other hand, the user base might be small because British (and Australian, New Zealand, South African and some Canadian) users prefer to use products that are Anglicised and fully integrated, which is the case with some competitor products. I don't think it would be a huge task to write a script to add RI to the current (2011) Anglicised NIV at least - I can understand why FL wouldn't want to do it manually, with all the work going on to create RIs for numerous other languages at present. It is, after all, only the occasional word that is different in the Anglicised NIV.

You would also think that it might be fairly trivial to produce Anglicised versions of the existing stock. Perhaps with an option in the program itself. It is, after all only a matter of taking a few words and replacing them with and additional letter or two.
In fact I can live happily with the extra 'z's here and there - the real grate is Savior, Honor, etc.

To the best of my knowledge this was pulled by the publisher and is no longer sold anywhere. I don't think Faithlife can sway the publisher.
