Ask the Author: Question button greyed out

I decided to test out the "Ask the Author" function tonight re Devin Roza's book on the sacraments.

With the specified resource open, I proceeded to Tools > Ask the Author. A new tab opened and there was a greyed out section of text named "Ask Question" which I cannot click (highlighted in yellow below). The author is listed below, but when I click on the name/blue box (also highlighted), I am taken out of Logos into Faithlife and invited to "Ask to Join" a group. I don't want to join a Faithlife group, but to ask a question. Is this how the function is supposed to work?

Yes, the Faithlife platform is the means of asking/replying for the "Ask the Author" function.

It would be quicker for me to just Google the author and email them direct. It would be good if there was a way to hide these types of function eg. also the wikipedia one, because anything requiring me to leave the main platform is, in my view, somewhat pointless.

Some authors would respond; some would not -- but yes, direct email is still a viable option. I don't think of the Wikipedia feature as "leaving the main platform" but rather as embedding a browser within the main platform. There are a number of sections that access external data, the most recent useful addition in my view is the ancient manuscripts. From the forums it is clear that some of the sermon and media sites are useful to a number of users. I would love to see some integration with the The Text This Week site.. I know there are others who share your perspective - just explaining why I am not among them.

No, I actually think you're right about this. It was my error. I haven't used it much and must have accidentally opened Wikpedia into a new window instead of a new tab, making me think that I was leaving Logos when I wasn't.

I see "ancient literature" in the passage guide, but I've not yet found the ancient manuscripts feature. (I'm very new to Logos and basically managed to purchase Logos 5 two weeks before Logos 6 came out). I will need to test the ancient manuscripts feature if it links externally, but in general, I think I prefer to remain within Logos. I too would welcome some kind of integration with TTTW (with a preference for internal integration).
