Help: How do I Undo the last highlight?

HI, a little frustrated with highlighting at the moment :(   For some reason in stead of just highlighting the words I chose it does the whole sentence or section.

1.  How can I restrict this?

2. Also is there an undo command that I can use to get rid the error, and not remove all of the previous highlighting?

You have "smart select" selected (this isnt new, but it is selected as a default in L6.) Turn it off in preferences.

I believe control-z. I will look into it.

EDIT: I think I was mistaken... or else the feature isn't working. I seem to remember now people complaining that you can't "undo" a highlight... which is REALLY dumb.

I have and had (smart select) turned off :)[:D] [:O] [^o)]

I will explain the behavior, I am selecting the text and then all of a sudden it dis-selects the text and selects all of the text below my curser, this is really strange (and annoying) [:(]

    Thanks, Tom

    Tom,

I and others have been having the same problem for a couple of months if I'm understanding the bug as you are describing it. See my post here:

    https://community.logos.com/forums/t/99669.aspx

Look at the screencasts and screenshots and see if that is what you are experiencing.

This too led me to find a solution for the lacking undo feature for highlights. Here is what I figured out:

Right click/control click on the highlighted text that you didn't want highlighted. Click on 'Open annotation' on the left side of the menu. (NOTE: Do NOT click Remove annotation! When this started happening to me I searched for a solution and came across something on Logos that said to select this and it wiped out every good highlight AND note that was in the selected portion of text. I lost good work.) This should open a new tab that's called 'Solid Colors.' This is the note file for your highlights, it should open to the section you're trying to undo. On the far right of the screen on the same line as the title of the highlight, if you hover your mouse over that area, it will show a drop down menu and show the date you created the highlight. Click on the drop down menu and click 'Delete note.' That should do it. Hope it helps and that we get a fix soon and an easier undo for highlights!!

Yep it works, just hope they release a fix soon, it is getting time consuming to just do something as simple as making in yellow a favorite text!  Thanks again!

Undo (Ctrl+Z) doesn't presently work on highlighting, though people have requested it (go for for this on UserVoice to help push it up in priority).

In the meantime, all you can do is erase an existing highlight. You can do this by reselecting the highlighted text and pressing Shift+Ctrl+K. That will remove all highlights from the selected text, so if you had overlapping highlights and only want to remove one of them, you'll need to find it in the Notes File that this highlight was created in and delete it there.

EDIT: I just noticed Matthew's explanation of how to delete a highlight without affecting other highlights in that selected text, and I see that worked for you. That's better than my suggestion.

    Thanks Rosie, I voted!

I can not remove highlights in Logos 6. Sometimes I come across words that have been highlighted but I don't know why. I did not highlight these words that I am aware of. I have been trying to solve this problem for over a year. I just want to remove highlights all together from my logos 6 system. I'm not interested in this feature in any way. It is just annoying.

Welcome to the forums. It is better to start a new thread with your problem rather than attaching your issue to a thread that is over a year old ... and there have been several changes since then.

If you have your highlight palette open, select your highlight in the text and click on "erase"

or since highlights are a kind of annotation, select the highlight, rick click and choose remove annotation (lower left)

Welcome Ken! [:)] Sorry you are having troubles. [:s]

If MJ's suggestion doesn't help, I suggest that you create your own thread and explain the issue clearly. You may need to provide screenshots. There are a number of reasons that you could be seeing highlights that you didn't create (i.e. an open search, community notes, etc.).
