This statement should be mocked and ridiculed as sloppy nonsense that is utterly subjective and if actually studied would probably be shown to be utterly false. It is so subjective that it could be bent and molded to mean just about anything someone wanted it to mean. Chances are pretty strong that right now is the best time in the last 2000 years to be Jewish from a safety and quality-of-life perspective.

"Some" (and a comparatively small "some", at that) being the operative word. Also, "fears" are not the same things as pogroms.
I'm not denying Jewish persecution. I'm denying Bernis's statement that current persecution is so severe and significant so as to be conclusive evidence for the "end of days". It is a statement that ought to considered nonsense on its face, since it is comparatively obvious that times for Jews have been significantly worse than today at numerous points during the last two millennia. It's an absurd assertion. Things might become worse, but nothing about the current treatment of Jews screams "the last days!!!" Obama, widely and comically hailed as the anti-christ, is about to leave office soon. All the "obvious" evidence of his role as the man of sin will be shown to be nonsense by the passage of time. Bernis's claim is of similar stuff. It's false on its face.

Being a Messianic Jew, I wouldn't say that 6 million Holocaust victims is a sign of sloppy thinking about persecution.
More than 50 million believers have died for holding fast to what Yeshua, a Jew, taught since the beginning of the church.

The sloppy thinking is evident when Bernis says that current Jewish persecution (attacks by Satan) points to the immediacy of the end of days. Since the Holocaust, Israel has been established and Jews are befriended by the most powerful nation on earth. They have won in landslide fashion nearly every war and battle they have fought. The evidence belies and undercuts the claim...that is all I am saying.

Yep, agree. That response was anti-Jewish. I do not wish to contribute to this debate, but neither do I want statements like that to go unchallenged.
I am thankful for the author's calling to witness to the Jewish community in a loving and knowledgeable way. I may not agree with his premise regarding end times, but the main take away for me is his calling and God's blessing up it. There is a lesson in there for all of us.

Well, I apologize that my quote from this book ignited such a contentious debate in this forum. That was not my intent in posting it. To me this book, other messianic books and even Orthodox Jewish books are extremely valuable resources to have in my library. I find it interesting to study the Jewish perspective on the Scriptures. I also consider the Messianic Jews to be my brothers and sisters in the LORD. I pray for Jewish people who do not yet know Yeshua HaMaschiach (Jesus the Messiah). That's why we should not post theological statements, what you may think is common sense or uncontroversial may not seem that way to others.
Not posting a theological statement - just scripture...
Jeremiah 31:33 - “But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days,” declares Yahweh: “I will put my law in their inward parts and on their hearts I will write it, and I will be to them God, and they themselves will be to me people.
Matthew 15:24 - But he answered and said, “I was not sent except to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”
From those passages, everyone may decide whether Jewish believers have a "special stand" compared to gentile believers.
