BUG: Unable to highlight in ESV

I am unable to do any highlighting in ESV, with or without the shortcut keys, for more than a week. No problem encountered with highlighting in NIV or NASB95.

Operating system is Windows 7 Home Premium.

Anyone able to explain or resolve? Otherwise can Logos/Faithlife please assist. Thank you.

it would be helpful to know which version of logos you are using... In fact, your post would have been better in the application specific forum (L5/L6). This thread may be moved to one of those forums.

Do you know how highlight notes work? If so, can you verify that a note was NOT created in the note document? Is it possible that you just have the visual filter turned off?

Glad you have this resolved but I am intrigued[:)]

I thought - and have just tested to confirm - that creating a highlight automatically turned on the associated notes document in the visual filter menu.

Can you let us know whether you are running on Mac or Windows and precisely which version of Logos 6 you are using? (This information is available if you click on the "i" icon in the top right and select "About Logos Bible software")

I am running the release candidate for 6.1 on Windows 8.1

One more quick tip about the forums: when you report an issue, you need to specify the specific version you are running. "L6" isn't nearly specific enough. We would want to know something like "L6.0b, SR 2". Often users will tell us that they are running "the up to date" version... And we find out later that they are not!

Following up on this can you check something for me?

When I have a particular notes document turned off under visual filters and then apply a highlight which ends up in that notes document the VF is automatically turned on.

It looks as though this wasn't happening for Alan. Does it work for you?

If the master "notes" button is turned off, the visual filter for the note file WILL NOT turn on. If the mater "notes" button is turned off, the visual filter for the note document WILL turn on.

I don't know if this is the desired / expected behavior or not.

Actually when starting to write that thread I saw something else.

If the top level "Notes" section is disabled then adding the highlight will still cause the Notes Document to be selected but - because the section is disabled at the top level - the highlight isn't displayed in the resource

So this does make sense. Adding the highlight always enables the relevant Notes Document but doesn't (and correctly) overwrite the higher setting.

Definitely sounds like it is behaving properly to me

I upgraded 2 weeks ago to L6 and had been struggling for days now trying to figure out why my NIV won't highlight at all and now that I've found this thread and turned on the "Notes" under visual filter the highlighting is behaving normally for me. It seems counter-intuitive to have this feature turned off by default - and a very frustrating few hours trying to resolve why my resource won't highlight.

Sorry to hear of your frustration - but I don't think this is the default, intended behaviour. I've always seen it turned on.
