Pondering Dan 5 - The Fingers: Why then, there, that time and not more dramatically before or ever a

Ever wonder reading or researching Daniel 5 why God (in His sovereignty) chose that particular time to write on the wall? Why not on other occasions or why not ever again or later in The Scriptures?

Please cite ONLY which Logos resources you would use in answering this question or in researching Daniel 5 specifically as to the fingers, finger, location, timing, importance of, or info Logos educates or illuminates with regarding "the writing on the wall" please.

I am not looking to debate anyone or stir up any controversies. I believe God either wrote on the wall or caused a finger to write on the wall and it was not a trick or something imagined from too much wine. Based upon this Truth, what are your thoughts please and how did you use Logos as you pondered it all?

The Writing on the Wall

I noted earlier that, despite all the visual detail, the writing itself is entirely missing in the MT. What the king sees is ‘the palm of the hand writing’ (v. 5, פס ידה די כתבה) and that is the occasion of his reaction, not the writing itself. There is no mention of his actually reading the writing. When he calls for his mantic officials in v. 7 he desires them to ‘read’ (קרה) as well as ‘interpret’ (פשׁר). They are able to do neither (v. 8), which intensifies the king’s fear. When Belshazzar finally calls Daniel he asks for a reading as well as an interpretation (v. 16), and that is exactly what Daniel offers to give (v. 17). The only time in the chapter when interpretation appears without reading is when the queen, who was not present when the writing appeared first, orders Daniel to be called (v. 12).
The writing comes back into the story much earlier in the LXX version (at v. 17), but even before that it is taken as understood within the narrative of vv. 1–10. The mysterious hand is also a source of fear in the LXX, but instead of dissolving as he does almost literally in the MT, Belshazzar gets up with his companions to have a closer look at the writing (v. 6). It is what he sees at that point, the words rather than the phenomenon, that causes him to call for the mantic officials (v. 7, τοὺς ἐπαοιδοὺς καὶ φαρμακοὺς καὶ χαλδαίους καὶ γαζαρηνοὺς).

Gasp. Thanks Josh. I have not found confirmation that Koldeway may have found that actual wall yet but its exciting to look.

Can anyone help or point us to an article that even speaks about Koldeway thinking he found the actual wall God may have written on?

Imagine that sort of find - wow.
