A hot topic of discussion among SDAs in North America is whether there should be African American regional conferences. This past weekend there was a major discussion on the subject involving lay members, pastors and other church leaders.
To navigate the present, we must understand the past. Years ago a prominent Black SDA leader, Elder G. E. Peters, argued powerfully for regional conferences, declared: “I am not a radical. I am not an agitator . . . I am standing for progress today!”
