BUG?: Takes over 2 minutes to open Logos and get to my commentary list, is something wrong?

I have made a video to show that it takes over 2 minutes to open logos, type in a verse references, and click on a couple of commentaries. Seems like a long time to me. Im not a logos expert so if anyone has any tips I can do to speed this up I would greatly appreciate it. Just seems like the entire software is slow, artifacts in the gui, the little yellow twinkly thingy gets stuck, the mouse cursor turns into a spinning ball often, etc.
Heres a video: Logos Slowness

around the 2 min mark where the screen shows some commentaries... my mouse is in the box and it appears to be just sitting there but i am actually scrolling to get to the esv study bible which is out of sight and it seems frozen. after four or five times you'll notice it shoots down like a rubber band and i have to scroll back up.

What version of Logos are you running? Logos 6.1 SR-3 (6.1.0.0038) has quite a few performance improvements.

I remember when it took over two minutes to log on to the internet using AOL 3.0 and a 56k dial up connection - and I thought that was fast at the time!

Is this MacBook Pro equipped with an SSD or normal harddrive? An SSD makes a very noticeable difference in speed. Other than that, there's not much you can do to speed up Logos. I just timed my Lenovo ThinkPad ultrabook which has an SSD, Core i7 cpu, and 8gb of ram.
If there are no updates or synchronizations to perform, everything loads in less than 15 seconds. Earlier I had synchronization and some new resources to download. It took 35 seconds that time.
Edit: My Logos installation has about 2,000 resources and a file size of 19.4GB.

A few things
- Can you post logs just opening to the homepage and closing Logos again? It would be interesting to see what is taking the time there?
- Have you tried opening to a blank screen as opposed to the homepage? How long does that take?
- It looks as though it starts to work at an acceptable speed right at the end of the video? Is that a valid comment - in that it works fine after the initial load period of around 2 minutes?
If you don't know how to do the things above, please advise.

For details of generating and posting logs please see https://www.logos.com/support/logos6/mac/report-problem
To open to a blank layout as opposed to the homepage select that option in Program Settings

Hi Tony
Sorry, the log file you posted was just console.log. Do you have any Logosxxx.log files available?

Sorry still not there.
Can a Mac user advise where the logs should be stored so Tony can check if they are being created?

Thanks Mike
Tony - do you see any log files in the folder shown by Mike? (it might not be called Logos 4, but should be something similar)

Tony this is a known issue that FL is working on. I am not sure what they did to cause it but it has been an issue for the last few stable builds.

after several attempts i noticed a pattern, when logging was disabled logos would open (although slow). when logging was enabled logos would crash. i used the screenshot above and went to the folder and it was 0 kb and when i clicked on it it said i didn't have permission to open it. i changed the permission where i could read/write and then reenabled logging. now the folder is populating with logs. let me try to upload them now...

The log file has two entries for
LibrarySearcher | (Timed) Searching ResourceList for: <BibleKJV Rom 8:28>
which is the passage entered into the Go bar.
But it then shows shows many empty searches:-
LibrarySearcher | (Timed) Searching ResourceList for:
in a period of 6s.
When i reproduced in Windows the only one i got was
LibrarySearcher (Timed) Searching ResourceList for: <BibleESV Rom 8:28>
and it took just over 1m to reproduce your scenario.
A FL Tech should investigate the logs to determine what is happening.

Since the word BUG is in tittle a FL employee should be keeping an eye on this but you can always email your logs to support@logos.com
