CPU laboring

Logos just seems sluggish on my computer since upgrading to L6 core engine. I get a lot of "not responding" messages at the top of the screen or there is just a general lag in how it functions. It almost never actually crashes though. Lately my cpu is running at 25% or so and logos is running but it is just open and sitting there with a passage guide open etc but I am away from my desk and have not asked it to do anything. I am trying to attach my log files but it keeps getting stuck so I will try to add those again later. I hope someone can see if there is anything I can do. It does not do this all the time. It just seems like it gets stuck. I am running a Dell Vostro 3750 with 4 GB RAM, an I5 processor, and Windows 64 bit professional if any of that matters. I have L4 Platinum with L5 crossgrade now running on the L6 engine. Thanks

Can you generate and post some performance logs as per https://www.logos.com/support/logos6/windows/report-performance

Yeah sorry about that Graham. I tried to attach performance logs but it kept failing to attach. It would start and not finish so I figured I would try again later. Still not working though. I get a "connection reset" error. Am I doing something wrong? I zipped the logs and hit the paper clip button. selected the zipped file and attach. I have never done anything else in that little window. It looks like it starts to attach and I see progress in the bottom of my screen but have never seen it get above 23%.
Thx,
Geoff

Hi Geoff

Do you have a reliable internet connection where you are?

Yes it usually is very good and we do not have much trouble with it

I had the same symptoms and found (using Task Manager >> Processes) that "PresesntationFontCache.exe" was using a lot of CPU resources, This process always started automatically when I booted my computer. When I ended the process (it takes two attempts to get it to stop), the symptoms went away.
I didn't have this problem until after I installed Logos 6 - I don't know if that was a coincidence or if it had to do with L6 install (.NET?).
Doing some research, I learned that this process, "Optimizes performance of Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) applications by caching commonly used font data. WPF applications will start this service if it is not already running."
This is one of those "do this at your own risk" ideas:
I came across a solution at http://www.geekonthepc.com/2011/08/02/stop-presentationfontcache-exe-hogging-cpu-power/. I followed the instructions (deleted file "FontCache3.0.0.0" file) and the problem went away. "PresesntationFontCache.exe" still starts when I boot my computer, but it no longer hogs CPU resources and my computer (and Logos 6) run normal now.

Hey Tim,
Thanks for the response. I will look into that. It is nice to know that I am not the only one. I was tempted to delete my system cache (or whatever it is called) and make Logos rediscover and re-index my entire library to see if that would help. I am a little hesitant though because it seems a little better now but there have been times when it has indexed for hours after adding just a couple of books so re-indexing the entire library might take a week. I will try to add those logs again but if they don't work or no one can figure anything else out I might try your idea. Just makes me a little nervous.
Thx

That zip file will not attach. It is 13.5 mb which does not seem that big to me but it just wont go. Is there another way to try to attach it or somewhere I can send it?

Just switched browsers from Chrome to firefox and got this message. Does this mean anything. Thanks for info on the 5 mb limit. What should I do with it then?

Didn't work the last time and not sure if this did or not either.
