Moo and March Madness
Could someone please explain why the first edition of Encountering the Book of Romans: A Theological Survey by Doug Moo - https://www.logos.com/product/33112/encountering-the-book-of-romans-a-theological-survey - gets the 50% March Madness discount while the second edition - https://www.logos.com/product/45065/encountering-the-book-of-romans-2nd-ed - doesn't get the discount?
How does a work by the author get exempted from the sale?

Resources are always selected for inclusion... MM never promises "all works by an author on sale." We NEVER know which resources will be discounted until after each round. Presumably Logos works with publishers to provide discounts on specific resources... but all of that is "behind the scenes."

How does Encountering Romans differ from NICNT Romans? I own Encountering. Would NICNT Romans add anything to what I already have by the same author?

Encountering has 217 pages while NICNT has 940. That's actual content excluding indices, etc.
Have not studied Encountering all that much, but was required to write a critique of the commentary in grad school. After that, I would highly recommend it without any reservation whatsoever. He covers issues in an even-handed manner carefully explaining various viewpoints and presenting solid evidence for his own view. Even when I disagreed with him, I appreciated his treatment of the subject.

DAL, this is my take on these two commentaries on the same book by the same guy. NICNT is an in-depth study commentary, whereas Encountering is more a summation commentary. If you are wanting in-depth study, NICNT is a good choice. For me, I found that for the purposes of quoting Moo's perspective, Encountering gives clearer and less involved summaries. Both are good (considering I don't agree with Moo on much), but both give different breakdowns of the info.
