Re: Highlighting and Notes

I know this is an old post. but I was wondering if you knew if there was a way to setup a Layout to only use a specific highlighting path. If that makes sense.
So...say you setup a layout and then setup your highlighting to go to a specific file (as you did earlier in this post), would the highlighting be setup for that entire layout all the time or would the highlighting always need to be manually changed w/or w/o the change of layout(s)?
Like I said...know it's been a while and I have L6, but have been using highlights for a long time (it seems). Wish I knew I could organize them better, and may start doing so now...not sure.
If you all have any more "tip/tricks" for how you use/do highlighting (esp. for organization's sake), I am more than open.
Thanks!

You should really start a new thread under the correct software if you want an answer. I'll see about getting it moved.

I am not sure who (or what) you were responding to... it sounds like this was moved to a new thread. To answer this question: the behavior of how highlighting notes are stored is independent of layout... in other words, changing your layout will make no difference (for good or bad).

A24 - he wasn't responding to a previous post - he'd simply attached to an L5 thread on the topic of highlights.

It was in response to a much earlier post in the Forum...I cannot find it now, but it did deal w/notes and highlighting.
Your response is appreciated.
MJ Smith, if/when a thread like mines is moved like this, is there any way to be sure there is a link back to the original? (I was hoping for a response from those fellas in that thread, too).
Thanks for all you do!

Yes, a link has been added. But generally when a question has been answered, others don't come and repeat the answers unless (a) they were answering at the same time or (b) they have something to add to the answer. In this case, the defaults for where notes and highlights are saved are independent of saved layouts. Also significant enhancements to notes were made in L6 so that in several aspects, L5 answers on notes may bot apply completely in L6.
However, I apologize for asking to have your post moved - I was interested in assuring that you got an answer, and that that answer related to the software you were running. I didn't realize that you placement was intentional.
