I know there have been posts about this collection before, but I just realized that this is at around 90% on Community Pricing. Let's keep pushing and get it over. 13 volumes for $30.

I hope you're both right. The price looks even better when you convert it back into good ole' GBP! [:)]
whats troubling is , I didnt get an e-mail saying it passed. I know it passed., but what about others that didnt get an e-mail?

I got an email at 12:57pm central time. So you're saying you had a successful bid and didn't get an email? Is that really a problem? You're not missing out on the deal.
I know it passed., but what about others that didnt get an e-mail?
What others are you referring to? People who successfully bid, or people who bid too low?
My bid was $50. Glad you got an email, I hope those all that under bid got one.
I have not received mine yet either but it is showing up in the community pricing section of my orders. If memory serves me, I don't think that I usually get an email until it actually closes and the email tells me what my actual price will be.
The line looks pretty flat. $28 might be achievable with some new bidders... I think $25 is possible. https://www.logos.com/product/8567/new-schaff-herzog-encyclopedia-of-religious-knowledge

Let's make that our aim!

Agreed...I was going to post the same. Might even drop a $1-2 below that if we can get it to $25 by tomorrow.
yay soon another one of my AGES pdf cds I can get rid of!
Never even knew they had this one.. I did have McClintock & Strong's Cyclopaedia of Biblical, Theological, and Ecclesiastical Literature and very much enjoyed it.

Okay, I bit!
The closing bid has shed its first $ already. Now at $29!
Where were all those bidders before? I noticed many people bid only when the bid is closing. Why?
There probably are many reasons for this but here are a few that come to top of my mind.
Some people:
The value of less well-known resources is unknown by many, so they avoid bidding, but when the bidding goes over the top, it lends the resource a perceived value it didn't have before ("all those people must know something I don't"), so it convinces people that they need it even if they aren't sure why and that they better get it now before it's too late.
For those who still aren't convinced, buying Schaff-Herzog is like buying a bible encyclopedia, a theological encyclopedia, and a church history encyclopedia all rolled into one. It's a three for one deal. Bid now!

Almost $28, please keep bidding [Y]
It's down to $28. Let's now go to $27!

You. Over there. Yes, the one thinking about bidding. Do it now: https://www.logos.com/product/8567/new-schaff-herzog-encyclopedia-of-religious-knowledge
And a biographical dictionary/encyclopedia.
Honest question: if I already have modern versions of those things, does Schaff-Herzog have anything to offer me?
There is only one truth. And it has never changed.
But how has that truth been seen / taught over time? Are we correct now or were they correct back then?
Is what is now taught changed so that publishers and authors could make money or because we have seen the mistakes of the past teachings?
And now we have it correct and there will be no more changes after today.
[or in the year 2525 will they have fun pointing out the mistakes of 1600, 1700, 1800, 1900, 2000, 2100?]

It seems to have a depth that many of my modern resources do not, especially in the area of history/biography.

Pick some topics and read to see the difference.
$27 is very possible. Don't miss out!
Steve Runge wrote about the value of older commentaries and I think his argument has merit for old encyclopedias as well, albeit, to a lesser degree:
"In a previous post I mentioned the value of older commentaries, noting that many times you will find a more robust engagement of the text on works by Godet, Olshausen and Alford, who were not distracted by the modern issues that can preoccupy new commentators."
The other side of the coin is that older works may spend time on long forgotten issues.
I've come to appreciate Schaff's work, including his commentary on Galatians, so my bid was in a long time ago at $35.
Three Hours AND Fifty-five minutes left! *smile*
The countdown continues ........... Peace!

This morning I didn't think it was possible but it is really close now. The great deal is getting even better. Come on folks, don't lose out!
The New Schaff-Herzog Encyclopedia of Religious Knowledge is also a fine tool, but it does not really replace the Realencyklopadie für protestantische Theologie und Kirche. Haag, La France.
James E. Bradley and Richard A. Muller (1995). Church History: An Introduction to Research, Reference Works, and Methods. Eerdmans (p. 95).

Regardless of the comparison to a German language work which isn't in Logos, Bradley and Muller list Schaff-Herzog in their bibliography as one of the encyclopedias which "represent the results of advanced research and which stand as suitable documentation of points made in scholarly research." Schaff-Herzog is the only one on their list that will soon be available in Logos. Bid quickly before it jumps to several hundred dollars.
Also on their list in community pricing is Hasting's Encyclopedia of Religion and Ethics. We should get that one out next!
BTW, Unix, thanks for pointing out the Bradley/Muller book. I just made a new purchase.

15 minutes.
Final CP price $28. Now $150.
Those who missed, you still have a chance for $150 [:P]

Wow, I'm glad I managed to get in at $28. It would really hurt to have had the opportunity to get it for $28 and now have to cry and dish out $150 on pre-pub just to feel that you actually need it...LOL...or worse yet, pay (perhaps) over $200 once it makes it out of prepub just to have this set in your library.
I'm telling you, I'm sure glad I jumped on this one and the Classic Studies on Textual Criticism, though the price on that one didn't go as high on prepub as the encyclopedia did.
I was looking up my favourite subject today (the Muggletonians) and rather depressingly the entry in this encyclopedia is incorrectly spelt as "Muggletoniais" which means that the entry is not picked up.
The internal links in the document correctly refer to the correct spelling but these are not picked up in the search, I checked the original text but it is a Logos error not present in the original.

So … did you post a typo report?
Thank you for your kind interest, indeed I did.
Yuh. That's me... Welcome to Logos, where, if you happened not to be using the software two years ago, you may not now want to purchase this product...

actually I bailed out at the last minute and I'm sure glad I did because I probably paid less than the community pricing because it was included as part of my upgrade when logos 6 came out.
Ahh, yes. Thanks for that. It's in Diamond and Platinum, so when I've a few couple of extra thousand $$s free for another base package, that's probably the best way to get it.

For me it was. Thanks to dynamic pricing I did not have to pay thousands of dollars to upgrade, so it worked out better for me.
