Logos Now? Or Later?
As someone who uses a Chromebook quite a bit, I find the Logos Now concept quite intriguing. However, I am more interested in improved web functionality rather than cutting edge features and the latest data sets. From what I understand, the new web site is in its primordial stage and isn't worth an investment of $9 a month. As a result, I am sitting on the fence.
Why doesn't Logos?:
- Offer a 3 month trial period instead of 1 month to attract users to it while it develops?
- Break up the offerings into two. One would be just the web site for $3-4 a month and the other one can be the new features plus the web site. Call it Logos Now and Logos Now Plus.

I think people need to remember they are going to a quicker release time frame so I assume new features will be coming quicker. As to the website, I understand it as a beta sneak peek per the marketing so someone shouldn't get Logos Now (as of now) solely for the web app.

I'm thankful that I use a laptop for both work and home but when I occasionally it don't have access to it, having the web option is great.

Also for the growing number of users who want to use Logos on a Chromebook, which can't install the desktop/laptop version and doesn't have access to much more than a book reader in the previously available websites. Second, those with a tablet that can run a full Windows version but don't have enough storage will enjoy this.
For me, the web app is the real story. The rest of it is only useful to a segment of advanced users.

That is why I believe that the web app should be offered separately at a lower price...like $3.99.

Same here, I haven't taken a Greek or Hebrew course in over 30 years and don't really have much interest in the extra desktop features. I haven't gotten around to reinstalling logos after recently upgrading an OS on my laptop (Not looking forward to the huge downloads and indexing that brings my laptop to a crawl). Most of the time I'm on my iPad or am using a computer that can't run logos desktop.
With the Logos web apps and a handful of other websites I haven't found anything I've wanted to do that I couldn't (Library.logos.com does the guides and Biblia supports a good set of search functions, Other sites offer plenty of original language tools for me). When the web app gets to the point that it offers more than the current web apps I will definitely subscribe (context menu, layout, guides are the items on the proposed list I'm really looking forward too [:)]).

I don't want to make a new thread, so I'm going to ask a question that may have already been ask.
With the subscription, I know that I get add-ons or additional features so when the crossgrade comes out, do I have to purchase the crossgrades in order to -keep- my features on the software? Once I cancel the sub, everything is gone. I lose all benefits, is that correct?

There are two different questions here:
1. Yes, if Faithlife offers the rental features in a crossgrade they would have to be purchased. Faithlife hasn't worked out whether those who have rented will be a better price than those who haven't.
2. Yes, you lose everything if you stop subscribing.

That's a sufficiently obvious next step that I's expect Faithlife to consider it once the website has sufficient functionality for it to be reasonable.

Not quite sure that you mean.
You are paying (right now) just for temporary use of the Logos Now tools and datasets.
As time goes on that payment will get you the web app and (perhaps) some other perks.
You are not getting anything for a future crossgrade. You may. Faithlife is trying to decide about that.

I hope that Logos will implement it. I spend $3.75 a month for Evernote Premium and would be willing to pay the same for a decent Logos web app.

At this time Logos Now does not yet appeal to me but I would like to suggest one thing that I think would make it more appealing to everyone:
1. That would be to make it something like being an Amazon prime member where we would be given a selection of a variety of older and newer books that we could read for free through the app.
I own a large library but if I was given the opportunitty to at least read a couple of books that I do not yet have then that would make the 9.99 fee seem much more feasible.
It it would give me an opportunity to read some books that I might be on the fence about purchasing and then increase Logos sales because I might decide to purchase the book after reading it or to put the book on my wish list.
This might also be used to help Logos put together more specific base packages for people. They could use this to possibly bring some people on board to purchase a base package or a larger base package by learning more about the reading and study habits of their users.

One added point in this discussion is that Logos will likely not offer everything from Now in a crossgrade. Initially I had thought that they were, but ran into posts that said they would likely not. Sry, don't have link to those right now. But the point would be that some benefits would not be had with the purchase of a crossgrade (at whatever pricepoint--dynamic or not, we don't know how that will play out). So if you quite Now, but purchase a cross grade with L7, you would get some of the features, but likely not all. And we do not know what that will be/not be.

It's a fair suggestion, but likely Logos could respond that its customers already get free books--Logos monthly free book (and then from Verbum and Orthodox, I've seen), not to mention the Vyrso freebies. So, you already get those, 8.99 is a no brainer then, eh? [;)] doesn't hurt to ask. I know that I take advantage of any free books I get--and my "purchase" of those also drives me to the website and I often purchase other books . . . so, who know, maybe you are on to something!

The nice thing is that it is here if we need it. If we need a feature etc. we can subscribe and use it. If we don't need it anymore we simple cancel it.
The cool thing is that whenever we subscribe we get full access to whatever Logos Now offers at that time. If I subscribe in a year I'll get much more content than today. But most likely for the same price.
The bottom line is, it is a service.

I can only speak for myself, but the only subscription that I would ever consider is a subscription to books or journals. I have absolutely no interest in paying a monthly fee for improved Bible software functions. Never, ever. I will buy Bible software that works, but I will not pay a monthly fee for it. I might for books, if the books were of real value to me.
Of course, everyone's needs and desires are different. So Logos Now might be a big success. I will stick with Logos Was.

That's what's so sad. I also use WordSearch and I've been able to access all my resources in it for a long time using MyStudyBible.com. Hopefully this Web App will get us there with Logos resources soon (I mostly just use WordSearch for the CBL (Complete Biblical Library) resources as I've had those books for years and it's nice to have the electronically now since I am more of a majority text fella). Of course Biblia.com gives us the books, but I would love to have the application features online. We'll see how well they can do that.
