Prioritizing Targums

Is it possible to prioritize the Aramaic Bible Series (Targums in English) to show in the tooltip when I hover over a passage referencing the Targums rather than the Comprehensive Aramaic Lexicon version? Thanks.

Hello David. Do you know how to prioritize resources generally? If so, have you tried setting your choice higher up than the default? Another option, if you have no use for the Aramaic version, is place it in hidden resources.

I don't own the Aramaic Bible Series and so cannot experiment.

I'm pretty sure it is not possible.

However, you can prioritize the English Targums so high up that they will appear instead of the English translation of the Bible verse! So, then you will see the Aramaic Targum and the English translation of the Targum. Unfortunately, this will happen in all your other pop-ups as well, however!

The Targum popups are nice, but it would be really great if they could be improved so that the Aramaic and English text of the Targum would appear together. Or, so that the Aramaic and English Targum text appears, as well as your highest prioritized Bible. Or even just highest prioritized Targum (which could be English) plus highest prioritized Bible.

As Fr. De Roza say, this is not possible.

The reason it's not possible is because the Targums use the Bible datatype, and there isn't a special Targum datatype (so Logos considers them to be Bibles or commentaries).

Because the Targums share a datatype with many other resources, you can't link to them with a datatype (or reference) link. Any such link would just end up opening your highest prioritised Bible. So links in your library to Targums, are just ordinary resource links that go to a specific resource (CAL). These sorts of links are NOT affected by prioritisation.

There's not a lot you can do really.

Since I only have one edition of the Targum Pseudo-Jonathan, I don't know whether there would be other options listed in the left pane (I can only open the link and it can only open in one resource). Could someone indicate whether there are more options when one has more editions?

The reason it's not possible is because the Targums use the Bible datatype, and there isn't a special Targum datatype (so Logos considers them to be Bibles or commentaries).

This, I think, warrants making a corresponding suggestion to FL.

I have multiple editions of the Targum and see only one option. As I stated earlier, that's because this is a resource link, not a datatype link. You can tell what sort of link it is by hovering the mouse over it (as I've done in the screenshot below). Resource links say "Link", datatype links say "Reference".

It would definitely be a nice feature to have.
