Anyone know if its possible to get the information window/tab to show the page number from the lexicon/dictionary I am using.

In my Hebrew exegesis class I have to hand in a translation and give the BDB page number for every single word  that is not in my vocabulary.

I am having to click the BDB link to the entry, go to the BDB, and then right click to see the page number.

This is painfully slow, and since I have to translated the entire book, its taking forever.

Thanks

    two ways:

Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."

I seriously see absolutely no reason to reference a page number in a lexicon.  The accepted method of referencing a lexicon is by means of the word referenced, e.g., s.v. גָּד֔וֹל

גָּדוֹל and גָּדֹל (ca. 520 ×): גדל; *gadul (BL 467p, 535a, 554u); MHb. also of age, older, Syr. gedīl, Ug. gdl: גְּדֹ(וֹ)ל, גְּדָל־ Nah 13 Q (K גְּדוֹל) and Pr 1919 Q, גְּדֹ(וֹ)לִים, גְּדֹלֵי, גְּדֹלָיו, fem. גְּדֹ(וֹ)לָה, גְּדֹ(וֹ)לֹ(וֹ)ת: great: —1. in size; people Jos 1415, animals (Ug. gdlt large beast :: dqt) Gn 121 Ezk 173 Jon 21, things Is 81 (:: Galling ZDPV 56:211f: rd. גּוֹרָל) Jos 2210 etc.; —2. in height: mountain Zech 47, tower Neh 327, horn Da 88 etc.; —3. in extent: city Gn 1012, river Dt 17, sea Nu 346, fire Dt 436 etc.; —4. in number: army Da 101, people Gn 122, assembly Neh 57, kingdom Jr 288, etc.; —5. in weight: power Dt 437, vengeance Ezk 2517, fear Dt 268, rain 1K 1845, famine 2K 625, etc.; —6. in significance: guilt Gn 413, sight Ex 33, matter Ex 1822, feast Gn 218, etc.; —7. in volume; voice (aloud Hommel Lautlehre 149) Gn 3914, cry Gn 2734, etc.; —8. in age; old, older Gn 271 2916 (:: הַקְּטַנָּה); —9. in influence; גָּ׳ בַּבַּיִת powerful Gn 399 Est 94, wealthy 1S 252, important Qoh 913; גְּדֹלֵי הָעִיר the great men of the city 2K 106, הַמֶּלֶךְ וּגְדֹלָיו and his nobles Jon 37, בֵּית־גָּ׳ (coll. !) houses of the great 2K 259 (Jr 5213 הַגָּ׳), great kings Jr 277, הַמֶּלֶךְ הַגָּ׳ the great king, šarru rabū 2K 1819.28,… etc.

Now George, don't ruin the great opportunities to exercise our imaginations that a professor who requests pages offers. [;)]

But why miss the opportunity to educate the professor regarding the proper way to reference a lexicon?

Besides, why is the professor insisting on using BDB when HALOT is available? [Not that BDB is unacceptable as Strongs is unacceptable]

Thanks, MJ... the first example, is what I am doing, but you see that I have to select the drop down to get the page number. I also use the second method: but Logos puts the page number in the text of the reference. If I am not at the top of the page, no can see. Unless I am bone-headed, and don't know how to show the page number with the filter regardless!

If Logos is listening (and why would they be): a status bar (optionally enabled like the interlinear display) at the bottom of either a tile or a window of tiles that shows selected reference information would be ideal. If could show the resource abbreviation, head-word entry, page number, and for lexicon the primary gloss....

See the status bar from Word (or Excel) for the basic. Probably won't happen, but why would Logos listen to me anyway?

This is a beginning Hebrew exegesis class so I image she wants this to make sure the students are not JUST looking at an English bible and writing THAT translation down.

I referred to the BDB in my post, but I actually do use the HALOT. I am interested in the function not the specific lexicon/dictionary. In fact, I'd like to see the page number in the information tab for anything, anywhere, at anytime that shows up there.

Also, suppose the usage is idiomatic: the reference to page number in a lexicon shows that I have gone through the process of looking it up, figuring it out, rather than (again) grabbing it from an English resource.

I would also like the page numbers for books to show on a status bar. There have been times when I have questioned the text and wanted to refer to a scanned electronic copy of the original or even a hard copy that I owned. Having page numbers would ease the process.
