I see from this forum post of mid-2014 that Searching Notes is Difficult. Not sure the state of things now.

The author I am currently reading frequently quotes scripture without giving a reference. I have created a note for each reference. Now I want to search my note documents and compile a passage list.

How to??

    It's the same!

As you appear to have used many Note files it may be difficult to search for the ones you used. But if you have a unique identifier for the author your search will identify the Note files and then you can Print/Export (CTRL+P) each Note file to a text file (use Full format as your references will be in the Content part). Then use Add ... a file in the Passage List.

    Thanks Dave,

My first problem is that I haven't figured out the syntax or process of searching notes at all. All of the notes that I want to search are in one document. I see that in the drop-down location box I can choose "Your documents" to search from. My document is named "E. M. Bounds". I do not know how to specify this document. Nor do I know how to search for all Bible verses. I did try "author:bounds" as the notes are all linked to the E. M. Bounds book I am reading, but that didn't work.

If I search <bible Matthew>, I get the following. (As you can see, I have not made very many documents in logos. Most of my notes are in bibledit, but that is another story.) I can click on the E. M. Bounds note and open the note (that is already opened :) but I do not see how to do anything else.

I tried closing everything except the E. M. Bounds note and searching for "all open resources" only to discover that the note is not considered a resource.

    1. What is the syntax for searching notes as opposed to all documents?

    2. How do I specify all bible text references and not just a book? (Is there something like <bible range:(Gen-Rev)>)

    3. Is there a way to do anything with the search once I get it besides telling me how many "hits" I got from my search?

Basically all I want to do is export all of the bible verses in a note document (over a hundred notes each with 1-2 bible references). Why can't I do this from the document itself? (Creating a passage list only gives me the last two verses in the document.)

[In my search for an answer, I have now discovered this, but do not see the relevant application to my situationI can also search highlghts.]

    [:)][ip] I'm a happy camper.

    1. Open your note file

    2. From the resource icon menu select print/export

    3. select to clipboard

    4. Add to passage list from clipboard

    Almost <Bible Gen-Rev>

Can I specify a note document to search from? (When searching for specific text.) <note mynote>, {note mynote} and note:mynote don't seem to work.

Find in panel (resource icon menu) is the closest I know ... and it is a simple string search

Have I been demoted? In the past I have been able to edit my posts but do not seem to be able to now. In other forums I was taught that it is common courtesy to edit the original post by adding the word SOLVED in the title when the question has been resolved. Is there a different practice here?

There is a brief time window that users are able to edit posts. Moderators can make changes upon request.

That seems sensible... but it would have to be solved quickly for the original post author to make that change. [:o]

'Note' is not a Logos 6 search extension or datatype, so these formats won't work. See Search Help for more information. So you can only search in "Your Documents" or as Martha suggests

    Thank you.

I have requested that notes be searchable on the suggestions forum. Is that the best place to request for new features?
