Good Morning
Does anyone have a recommendation for a comprehensive, yet simple to understand Bible Commentary?
Thank you!
Paul
Good morning to you, Paul!
Others may have a ready recommendation, but I'll first ask a couple questions: Are you looking for a single volume commentary? This may be what you mean by "comprehensive."
Also, are you looking for something that focuses more on the original meaning of the books of the Bible (for example, what did Peter have in mind when he addresses his letter "To the exiles of the Dispersion in Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia..."), or are you looking for something that focuses on our modern application?
Hello Lew
Thank you for responding! It could be single or many volumes as it would tie into Logos. If it takes many volumes to be comprehensive then let it be so. I am looking for something that I can use parallel to my bible reading in Logos....
Currently, the NIV Application Commentary is heavily discounted. The link is here:

Many of these volumes are written by awesome scholars and they often wonderfully bridge the gap between a thorough understanding of the original meaning and a sound and helpful contemporary application. There are lots of others, too, but I would seriously consider some of these.
Paul - I agree that you should look into the NIVAC. They have never been this cheap in Logos.
On another note... You created a thread about an issue you were having, but didn't follow up. https://community.logos.com/forums/p/104085/719468.aspx#719468

With this set at this price, I would not consider anything else if finances allow. Remember that Logos offers payment plans as well. I would not pass up this set.
That's really a big deal!
I have a perpetual boycott on Zondervan resources because of their refusal to offer dynamic pricing...and for high pricing in general. But this sale is without question an incredible deal, so my sales guy is ringing it up for me and I will be checking them out when I get home. Jump on this deal!

I originally wanted to boycott Big Z after they discontinued Pradis, but in the long run I needed their first order resources. However, I have refused to purchase some packages because they don't offer dynamic pricing.
I hope this sale is a trial balloon and convinces Zondervan that offering sales in Logos and allowing dynamic pricing will result in increased revenue for them.
I have a different take. While I agree that the NIV Application set is a great price. For what you are talking about the Bible Knowledge Commentary two-volume set is excellent. The one volume Evangelical Commentary on the Bible is pretty good. Or Thomas Constables notes on the entire Bible are excellent and very cheap in Logos. You might look at these options as well.
Thank you Lew for this recommendatio, however I am confused as to the pricing....in order to purchase this set at a good price, it seems you have to purchase it one book at a time?

Correct. There is a "buy all" button somewhere.
The "Buy All" button is at the top of this page: https://www.logos.com/products/search?Product+Type=NIVAC+Sale+2015
until when will be the NIVAC sale on logos?
Does anybody know?
