[unresolved] BUG: Search delay
There is a serious delay when searching for a simple term in Basic search. The short video clip below illustrates the problem. Note that the time logos say the search took is impressive., However there is a noticeable lag between the time the search is completed and the time they appear on the screen. Also note this does not happen when I do a bible search

Yes, I've noticed this lately too. The time lag was always there but very slight; however it has gotten worse in a recent release, not sure when (6 or 6.1?)

I don't recall seeing it being as noticeable until 6.1. Hopefully some simple optimization can solve the problem.

I, too, have noticed this delay and spoken to someone in tech support about it. As you say, it is only with the Basic search and not with the Bible search. Hopefully, they will come up with a solution soon for it introduces a frustrating lag in the general workflow.

This should be fixed in 6.3 Beta 3.

This is not fixed in Beta 3
Do others have the same experience of Fred, i.e., that it's not fixed? Or did Beta 3 improve things for some? Please note, going by the release notes, it seems to be a Windows only issue. I'm not on the 6.3 Beta right now, but I am eager to see this issue resolved because I run into it every day.

There is some improvement in Beta 3. However there is still significant difference in the time the program says it took to search and the time it actually appears on the screen. This only happens in Basic search.
For example:
In Bible search I search All Bibles for the word Jesus. It takes .51 seconds and results begin to appear even before the search of all bibles has completed.
In Basic search I search all resources for the word Jesus. When sorted by Rank it takes 1.94 seconds and results begin to appear while search is still running. When sorted by Count it takes 2.74 seconds and another 4-5 seconds to appear. When sorted by Resource it takes 2.79 seconds and another 4-5 seconds to appear.

When I searched All Text/ALL Resources for "Jesus" there was a delay of abt. 2s before results appeared for Count & Resource. Rank results did not lag. But when I changed to searching my Bible collection there was a noticeable lag (3s+) for Rank. When I switched from All Text to Bible Text there was also a noticeable lag with Rank. Following Rank, the other two sort methods were OK. The same Bible Search had virtually no lag for Verses and Aligned.
