Footnotes in Pages

I switched from using Word to Pages, but Pages doesn't seem to put the footnotes at the bottom of the page when copying and pasting from Logos. It used to work with Word. Is this a problem with Pages or is there a way to have the footnote paste to the bottom automatically?

The new version of Pages is incompatible with this feature. If you have the old ('09) version, it should work.

Might I suggest Nisus Writer (Pro). It is worth the money and its native file format is rtf.

Another alternative would be Mellel. Though I think it is a little harder to get used to.

    Both support the footnote feature.

I have Mellel because of it's (unparalleled) support for Hebrew. I've been begging to have it supported for a very long time. I'm unaware of how to get it to copy citations/footnotes. Have you actually had success, and if so, how do I do it?

I have no problems with citations and footnotes copying over with Mellel. Go to tool/program settings and make sure the copy citations and footnotes indicates yes.

Example of John 1 from the NIV copied using the right mouse context menu and pasted into Mellel

Hope this helps. If not post back with an example of the problem.

My workaround is this: when you paste from Logos as plain text, it adds the citation immediately after the quote. For example:

It is a beautiful thing to grow old gracefully, to manifest more of Jesus from day to day. Our blessed Head is the One from whom we draw all our supplies for spiritual upbuilding

    H. A. Ironside, In the Heavenlies : Practical Expository Addresses on the Epistle to the Ephesians. (Neptune, NJ: Loizeaux Brothers, 1937), 204.

Now, to get it to paste as plain text, you need a third party app. Typically, a clipboard manager will do the trick. I use Launchbar, but others like Flycut (free in the Mac App Store) will also work. Just copy from Logos then paste as plain text from the third-party app.

Of course, you'll have to then manually add the citation to a footnote, but, for me, that's not a big deal.

    Hope this helps.

John, I had made sure that my settings were correct, but I was trying to use the "Copy Bible Verse" tool. Apparently citations get copied when right clicking and choosing selection (rather than reference) then copying.

What I've been asking for is that the "Copy Bible Verse" tool would support Mellel so that one could choose the formatting of the output text.

Thanks, though for bring to my attention the one working method of getting citations into Mellel!

FYI, you can also use the CBV to format and then use the copy rather than copy and paste and get what you want. I realize you want a copy and paste option, but you can use CBV to format to your liking and then copy and manually paste to Mellel with good results.
