Notes Documents

In Logos six I've found it very difficult to add a note to a specific verse or word. The usual choices i get when clicking "selection" or "reference" are: Add Clipping, Add Note (to existing note), Add Community Note, and Show information. I want to add a note to a verse in chapter 4 but if I have created one for chapter 3 that's the only option given. So is a specific note for a verse or chapter impossible? Also, quite often for notes that I have created there is no icon in the resource indicating there is a note. It's been very frustrating to add a note to a specific passage, to the point I am just about to give up with electronic note taking and go back to the old method of pen and paper.

I have printed and read the help section titled "Notes Document" and found it very lacking. In addition I have not found a tutorial that deals with this topic.

I would really appreciate some help.

Thanks

Do you have the note document you want to add the note into OPENED? Any note document you have opened will appear in the list. Otherwise, it will show the last opened document. Notice in my first screen shot I had previously opened "Untitled Notes (2)." In the second screen shot, I have opened up my "Delete Me" document.

So is a specific note for a verse or chapter impossible?

If you want to add a note to a verse, verses, chapter or book, you use the "reference" tab. You should review this wiki article: https://wiki.logos.com/Notes_$28ver_4.5_$26_up$29

You may have confused notes with note documents. Did you create a note document named chapter 3? This screenshot shows a pair of note documents I have created.

Now, when I select a verse, I am given the option of adding a note to any opened note document. If none are open, there will be a single option for the last used note document.

If you need some more detailed assistance, just let us know.

    Dave,

The jury is still out. I've given a lot of links to check out but nothing I've found so far allows me to quickly add a note to a chapter or a verse. I 'm getting the impression that multiple steps are involved and I have yet to discover what they are.

Several steps the first time but thereafter it is simple:

    1. Open the Note document that you want to add the notes to
    2. Select the text
    3. Right click
    4. Choose "reference" on the right side of the menu ... it will continue to default to that
    5. Select Add a note to ... the file you opened in step 1 ... it will continue to default to that
    6. Type anything you want into the note ... it will save automatically when you go on to other actions.
