[resolved] BUG: Tagging Error
The Mt Seir in Joshua 15:10 is apparently tagged incorrectly. Of all my Bible Dictionaries, the LBD is the ONLY one that references this Mt. correctly. This is NOT the region in Edom, which is the entity that all the rest of the dictionaries refer to.
The other oddity that I can't figure out is in the "referred to as" section. It mentions "Assares", but I can't figure out where that is coming from!!

Can you explain how it is tagged incorrectly? I opened all the dictionaries and though they have different descriptions, they all are titled the same. Is there more than one Seir, or do you just disagree with the dictionaries' description?
I did see an option for Seir Edom as opposed to Judah, but from a cursory glance I don't see reference to Edom in any of the descriptions in the cited dictionaries.

It seems to be the transliterated form of the Greek name.

Yes, there is more than one Seir. I currently live in Kiriath-jearim which is the ridge mentioned immediately before (vs.9) and can see this Mt. Seir from the parking lot, but the region in Edom is a very long way in the opposite direction. [:D] My point is that this mention in Joshua 15:10 should NOT produce any hits if they don't have an entry for a separate Mt Seir.
Concerning "Assares" it would make sense to me if the Septuagint text was showing here instead of my preferred Bible. No?

By the way, Tommy, I just noticed that the description of your top dictionary (can't see what it is because of the drop down) does reference the correct Mt. Seir. I don't have that dictionary obviously. [:D]

This is ISBE, revised edition.
I think that you just stumbled over what might be called a question of headword organization in dictionaries (I think I reported it as a bug earlier in slightly differnt circumstances). Many of these dictionaries have one entry for everything called by the same name - one for Simon, one for Mary, one for Seir - and then sub-entries. The tooltip you see will display the first lines of the first entry - but in probably most if not all of them, there will be a Seir subentry 1 in Edom and a Seir subentry 2 in Judah. ISBE does the same, but Faithlife set up the Factbook links correctly so that they point to sub-entry Seir 2 instead of the main headword. Maybe one day they will do this for all of the others, too - don't hold your breath waiting...

Faithlife does distinguish between the 2 Mt Seir's:
In the NRSV the linkage is clear - to Mt. Seir in Judah
I provide this as an example of how to check the tagging vs. the dictionary head words.

Thanks for your replies NB and MJ! I think I'm beginning to understand the issue. Yes, Factbook does distinguish between the two (which I was aware of), and yes, most of the dictionaries contain reference to the correct one when opening and scrolling to the correct subsection.
The one thing that remains puzzling is that a found two dictionaries that were listed even though they didn't contain any reference to the Mt. in question.

The dictionary linking was probably done primarily by computer with some manual adjustments. These would be cases that required manual intervention that were not identified as such. Report them as errors via the Facebook feedback and they should be repaired.

I assume you wrote Factbook and it got "corrected" to Facebook, but is this feedback box what you were referring to?
"Suggesting more content" doesn't seem like the right place for reporting errors, but if you say this will work, I'll do that.
Is this what I should do in Gen. 11? The first reference to "earth" (vs 1) is correctly identified as <people>, but the first "earth" in vs 9 is INcorrectly identified as <surface of the earth><thing>. I would have thought that a typo report with a comment would be more appropriate here. Am I mistaken?

Yes, sorry I don't notice the correction. [:$] This is the only way I know to make sure it goes directly to the Factbook people and as it is a new feature, they appear to be keeping a close eye on it.
The Genesis tagging is more likely a typo for reporting purposes.
