Commandments Interactive Resource Feedback

The Commandments of the Law interactive resource is interesting. However, I'd like to see a couple of things added to it:

1. When mentioning laws that reference Israelite feasts or sacrifices, linking to them in the Israelite Feasts and Sacrifices interactive resource would be neat, and vice versa. Being able to have more integration between these two interactive resources would strengthen the usability of both of them.

2. As they stand now, it's more of a listing of the commandments, as well as they are categorized into different categories. However, I'd like to be able to get to more information as to the interpretation of the commandments from this interactive resource. Whether that links to commentaries, other ancient Jewish literature that offers interpretation on them, rabbinics-type resources, etc., would be helpful. I've been reading through the list of what's applicable today and what isn't, and the list is longer than I expected. I would like to be able to get at a more solid interpretation of the commandments instead of just reading the list. As a Jewish person, I am not sure if I should be celebrating some of the Jewish feasts mentioned in Scripture, as well as following some of the commandments that the interactive resource mentions as "applicable for today" (since I've never really practiced being a Jew and more adhered to attending New Testament Baptist churches). So being able to use this interactive resource to get more at interpretation would be excellent.

Thanks!

Would it be more effective to link laws, feasts and sacrifices to the Talmuds? ...

Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."

That would help, as well as links to any additional resources (JPS commentaries, etc) that the content innovation teams feels would aid in the interpretation of the commandments.

A two-step approach could be, after locating the reference using Commandments of the Law, to plug that reference (or references) into Ancient Literature, and see what pops up in the "Judaica" section. Further, you could have a custom guide that contains a section for Ancient Literature and a specialized Commentary section pointing to the JPS commentaries (if you have them). I'd guess that could get a lot of mileage.

To the sure-to-be-noted follow-up suggestion of "maybe those links to Talmuds, Mishnah, etc. should also be a column in Commandments of the Law", that's a great idea. I'll add it to the list of things Eli and I need to chat about.

Sounds great. I'll roll that custom guide next time I fire up Logos. Sounds good about the other links as well. I am liking how we can test datasets with Logos Now early and provide feedback on them. It's allowed me to digest new datasets a little easier then being hit with them all at once like in base package upgrades.

Inclusion of references to Judaica is such a great idea, I'm sorry to not have thought of it earlier. We've decided to include the data based on Judaica references in Ancient Literature for relevant Bible references in the Feasts and Sacrifices interactive and the Commandments of the Law interactive.

This means that each interactive will have a new column/facet that will contain links into Jewish literature where appropriate: Talmuds, Mishnah, and Mekhilta.

No word on exactly when this will happen, but know that it is in the queue of things-to-be-completed.

    Thanks again for the feedback!

Sounds great! Love the roadmap you have planned for it, and looking forward to seeing it come down Logos Now!
