My PBB books don't show up on my iPad. Is there something I'm doing wrong?

Thanks. Any idea if it is in the works? It would be very handy, especially when I head out of town and only take my ipad.

No progress yet... but considering that smaller personal books now may be uploaded to automatically install on multiply desktop versions one would guess the ability to get them to mobile devices is a simple matter of enabling it in the mobile apps. WHEN/IF this is happening is something only FL can tell you.

Any mobile programmers around? How do you load a file onto iOs and Android [etc]? And how different is it between Operating Systems?
Any Logo programmers around? How different is the format of a PBB from a normal resource? [one of those questions holds the key]
On the other hand there are many programs that will read the DOCX file if all you want to do is read the PBB - just copy the DOCX source file.

We do consider UserVoice when prioritizing features, but it's one factor among several. Other factors include cost, technical feasibility, and number of users affected. Your feedback on UserVoice is the biggest factor in implementing prayer list support, which is available now in the Faithlife Groups app and is planned for the Bible app in an upcoming release.

...but that already isn't an issue... since FL has begun the sync feature between computer installations.

If the app doesn't know that book "x" on your computer is the same as book "x" on your mobile device, any sort of syncing, highlighting, etc would be broken.
My guess is that this will become a "Logos Now" feature. [;)]

I sure hope not, but it wouldn't totally surprise me lol. This is more of a mobile feature request than a Logos 6 feature request though, and my current understanding of Logos Now is that it doesn't really effect mobile, is that not true?
Unless maybe they're working on a "Logos Mobile Now" [^o)] lol.

One could easily turn around the argument: For many users, Logos Now lacks a compelling YOU HAVE TO HAVE THIS argument. It's nice and they liked it for free, but the current feature set seems to have no real killer feature inside. Not even the free books they gave pulled much traction (my feeling: those who were most interested and thus potentially excited about them already owned them). Mobile PB sync could be exactly this thing.

Yeah, I hear what you're saying, although Amazon offers this service completely for free as a courtesy of having an account with them. I would recommend doing what Amazon does, give a certain amount of space for free, and then charge the super users who want to eat up a ton of cloud storage. I think Amazon gives 5GB free, and then anything more you have to pay for. At least I think that's how it used to be, not sure if it still is.

That isnt really how iOS works. I know when I say this, someone jumps up and gives some obscure exception... iOS apps aren't designed (and apple does a good job of preventing) side loading of external data.

Maybe I misunderstood your comment. An app can load in files from your harddrive, etc. Frankly, a Kindle-like approach is smarter, to control versioning, etc.
I'd suspect PB to apps will be in Logos Now a bit before Logos7, but not included in Logos7.

I disagree... Drop Box for one is an example... Accordance for another example allows one you to Sync personal books and even install modules to save on downloading them.

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who thinks that this is really a no-brainer for Logos.
I would think that this would be a HUGE way for Logos to garner new customers. For a while, I didn't know that I had the ability to convert my books to PBB and use in Logos.
I wonder how many people shy away from using the Logos platform because they've already purchased so many Kindle/iBooks and hesitate because they don't think they can have all their digital purchases in one place.
I am always telling my pastor friends about Logos, but I wonder if I'd be more inclined to share, even with folks who might not need the functionality of a full-fledged theological library, if they could seamlessly connect their already purchased digital goods into Logos. Seems like a huge win-win for Logos, to me.
But for a huge majority of that population, they're not doing their reading on their desktop/laptops...they're using their ipads, kindles, etc.
Come on, Logos, don't let us down.

Am NOT an Apps programmer. That said can an app on iOS import a file that is on the device but not in its sandbox into its sandbox?
[Define side loading as where a file just shows up in the space of an app. Apps are designed to only accept files from their producer such as FL. Define Sandbox - where an App can 'play' in its sandbox and no where else - the rest of the world is prevented from playing in the Apps sandbox - space]

Question: Are not Apps like iTunes and text file editors and PDF readers designed to look in some designated folders on the device. The files used by an editor or PDF reader are not in the Apps sandbox but they are where the program App expects them to be [in a common folder like Documents or Downloads]. Those files [txt, doc, pdf] have no effect on how the App runs - just on what the App does. And it 'appears' that the FL Apps import the files into their sandbox rather then read them from a common folder like Documents or Downloads.

I do not own the mac store edition. Handoff, as I understand this feature, is not an accordance feature at this time. The process for syncing is pushing a sync button on your app and then one in your accordance app. letting you choose the items you wish to install from your desktop install and your device (both devices must be on the same wifi network or the device connected to the computer via a cable). If Logos implemented such a process they could allow users to install Personal Books onto their devices.

Sorry, I shouldn't have used "handoff," as I didn't mean the Apple OS X feature. I just meant syncing of resources. Do you know if Accordance is digitally signed?

Obviously every APP store APP is digitally signed but as for the version I am using this is a question I cannot answer that in the Get info window I compared the Accordance (non-store) and Olivetree (mac store)... From the get info window i could see no difference. If you know of a way for me to tell if Accordance is signed I will check.

I don't know, sorry. I assume that it is since they have the app in the Mac App Store.
My theory/question (which we won't be able to answer): Is Accordance able to sync directly between desktop and mobile BECAUSE it is signed? I know that Apple is very concerned about sandboxing apps, especially on mobile... so I assume there is some sort of system where the two apps get the "you're good" from Apple.

I have asked on the Accordance forums if it is... If it is I know it still works with their Windows version EDIT:(WiFi sync with Accordance for iOS is labeled as not yet implemented, but is ;labeled as planned), so if it was something Faithlife wished to do theoretically it should be possible. I am 90% sure FL has a plan for PBB on mobile devices... but when and how is the big question but seeing no one is saying anything here I am guess it is not even a close to beta testing thing (although I would really like to be wrong about that).

If any statements made by Faithlife might have misled you about the current state of syncing Personal Books to mobile, I apologize. As a rule we don't make forward-looking statements or give timelines regarding features that may or may not come to fruition. The reason is simple; features, schedules and priorities can (and often do) change - and no promise at all is much better than a broken one.

I do not feel mislead (I misREAD the announcement that syncing was coming to Logos 6 for PBBs). I just wish I could have my personal books on my iPad..although maybe it is only a dream.

Accordance for Mac (I can't speak about the Windows version) supports WiFi cloud sync through Dropbox, the cloud storage service. I have used that before and it does work pretty good, although I still prefer the Logos server syncing of highlights and notes system by far.
Accordance for Mac also seems to support some type of sync via USB cable, but I have not tried it out personally so I cannot vouch for how effective it is or how it compares to the DropBox sync.

So as of yet, we still don't have any verification of syncing between desktop and mobile. Accordance is syncing with a cloud service! That is quite different than what was suggested earlier.

Cloud service would be fine for me if Logos would implement it. It would be fantastic, actually. I've got a ton of Dropbox/GoogleDrive space that I would be willing to sacrifice for PBB's. It's possible to do this with TONS of different apps. So, clearly, Logos could implement this as a feature. It would be one of the better ways to save Logos the cost of hosting PBB files. Let us store our own!

Laridian years ago allowed direct copy of PBs from platform to platform (and stiil remains my preferred PB format ... Logos is always a step behind). It's a no-brainer.
I still say PBs on mobiles will be a Logos Now feature ... forever. It's too obvios. 8.99 per month.

Yep. Highlight 30 or so, press 'enter'. It's just so amazing. I can't imagine how Craig ever figured it out. No UserVotes, No Laridian Now, and somehow he figures out how to tag 'books'. Sonetimes when I can't get the Logos app to sync verses between 2 panels (yes, sync=on), I switch over to see how in the world Craig syncs 14 resources. All at the same time too.

Yeah I was a big PocketBible user for a long time too, they did have some very nice features. I still love their search, so powerful, definitely better than the Logos iOS search. I am thankful for the many features that Logos iOS app has that PocketBible doesn't. But yeah, I do miss all the panes you could have and how well they synced.

Speaking of the angel, they just updated this AM. Refined their sync, plus improved support for PBs. Gee. When I tried the new update to see what was up, I was pleasantly reminded that I can leave sync turned off. What a gentleman. One big reason I keep it on my iPad is it's quick, supports tabs, etc so I can keep a bunch of resources open, and of course PBs.

But supported on both platforms is DropBox sync which allows all user notes and user tools to sync, this does not include user Bibles in Accordance but all other user books (user tools).
