to work in my new laptop which runs windows 8.1. Anyone know if they are compilable with 8.1?

When you say they won't work, what do you mean? Do they try to play? Are you getting an error? When I switched from Windows 7 to 8.1 I had a problem playing videos. The fix was giving Logos permission in the Windows firewall settings.
