Need to be careful of your Shopping cart.

The last few weeks when I have purchased items from Logos and added them to my cart, large expensive library bundles have automatically been added to my order. The last was the Portfolio Upgrade for $3,800.00! A quick touch of a button and I would be in debt for the next several years. When I called my son to have him order a book as a gift from me for his Logos program, a $990.00 commentary set was added to his order. It is one thing to have a suggested product appear on the side as a "temptation," but it is quite another to slip it in on your order. What is going on here?

It is not legal to add items (other than free items) to the checkout process. However, there have been several times I have had "this" happen to me - when I had clicked on a item and left it in my basket without either deleting it or moving it to save for later. In all cases it was easily deleted from the purchase order when I noticed the total charge was more than I had expected.

That happened to me; I just figured it was Logos marketing again. But the add-on wasn't something I'd even want. Took a little work to get it out of the cart; I think I restarted the browser but finally it displayed the item selector for removal.

FWIW, I've never experienced this (and I go through the checkout process several times each month). I have seen links in emails (or very occasionally on sales pages on the website) that automatically add products to your basket (they have the word 'buy' in the URL). I wonder whether previously you've click on one of these links?

In such cases, a quick call or email to Customer Service can reverse the "purchase".

I've had this happen to me a couple of times. First time I thought I had left something in my cart, but a couple of times they were products I would never have added to my cart.

I wouldn't attribute this to malice. It has seemed to me that they have a bug in their store/cart software. EG, Perhaps a wrong ID is getting stored when someone adds a product to their cart and it ends up in yours.

I hope logos looks into it and fixes it, but they would always let you return any products you didn't intend to buy.

My experience is the same. I have seen items in my cart at checkout but they were items I had added at some point and failed to remove. I doubt Faithlife would randomly add items to someone's cart in hopes they would not notice.

Exactly the same here. Following links from blog posts titled like "want to get the power of ...XYZ commentary or package....in an instant, too?" may sometimes lead to the shopping cart instead of the product page, but that doesn't come unexpected and I know that I went through such a link for an expensive product and will not click "buy"

I think finding stuff in my shopping cart can always be attributed to my own actions & I simply remove it from the cart.

This is not actually a new bug, there was a thread opened about it here on May 1. I am a little surprised at the 'doubting Thomases' round here who seem to think this is down to operator error and can assure them that I, for one, am very well aware of which products I add to a shopping cart, and which ones some flawed coding has introduced..........

I read your ref'd page, David. Now, I remember also the message that the unwanted item was not sold by Logos. That was also bizarre. I don't get emails with add buttons from Logos. So I'd suspect either a mixed up cart, or odd Logos.com page displays. In my case, using iPad Safari, the remove check-off was missing, which really made me PO'd.

There are certainly situations where one click will explicitly add multiple items to the cart, thought that doesn't seem like what people are concerned about.

I have had the same experience as MJ. It was generally a result of me looking at something in my basket, and failing to delete it. Or, I did not read carefully that one click added more than one item.

For me it adds DVDs of the Logos program. And then says that they are not available anymore!

How many years has it been since they were available.

I did not order/put them on my wish list since [maybe as far back as the intro of L4?]

It is reproducible and we have a case. Checkout is attempting to be helpful by "remembering" the last available cart with unpurchased items in its history. The intent is to aid shoppers who don't choose to proceed with checkout in the same session as when they add items to their cart. In some cases, however, the last available cart is a very old one and either contains items once intended to be purchased but never were or contains products so old that they're no longer available.

We are working to correct this. Apologies for the inconvenience.

This is a problem:

I did not add first item at all and don't recall ever putting it in my cart at all. When I selected item 2 to be added to cart and it went to cart, item 1 popped up and as you see it is not a product currently being sold. This needs to be moved up to top priority to be fixed. (add) I wish to let FL know that it is a problem with deeper issues. Normally when you go through adding things to the cart, if you already own the product it removes it and leaves a comment in a bar at the top of 'one or more items in the cart have been removed, you already own the item'. In this case shown below, the first item should have been automatically removed since I already own it, a normally grayed out item, also it should have been a much lower price.

Toby said that a case had been created and they are working on a solution. Until a fix is deployed I would suggest deleting the unwanted item(s) from your cart before check out.

I just wonder whether this problem is related: I did a quick buy, it showed 1 book from Concordia publishing house and I received it and also five books from the Fortress press. What I can check now is that I have not ordered those additional books, they are not a part of a base package coming later, and I have not paid them. They are good books anyway, perhaps better not to complain.

Edit: I checked the license of those five and seems to be temporary, maybe related to Logos now?
