Universal Windows Apps Finally!
I sure hope Logos is paying attention to the Windows 8 annoucement today.
Quote:
And the final piece with the app situation is Universal Apps. At long last, common code can be used to develop for phones, tablets, laptops, and desktops. Visual Studio will now build one application, which can have both Windows 8/RT and Windows Phone binaries. This also enables the store to allow one app purchase to be installed on both platforms without having to re-purchase the app as you do now. The keynote demonstration was the Modern version of Office, coded to WinRT, and running on both the desktop and phone with the same code base. Even better, with the update developers can now target Desktop apps (due to the windowed mode), Tablet apps, Phone apps, and even Xbox One apps, all with common code. This is a big win for developers, and I’m sure Microsoft is hoping it draws more developers to WinRT, which in turn will be a big win for consumers.

Now there's even less reason to not get a Windows 8 Phone app and perhaps even an improved regular app. This is what Microsoft should have done all along.
I don't know how many Logos users will be using the Bible! app on their Xbox, but in theory they could if they wanted to if Logos acted on this update.

Well, sort of right, but according to mr.P this is not the real issue.

Microsoft's Universal Apps support both C++ and C# so the programme language issue no longer applies. It comes down to whether Logos sees any merit in supporting Logos on a 8" or smaller tablet or smartphone device. There are already tablets like the Surface Pro and the Asus Vivotab lines which support a full copy of Windows Pro that already allow Logos users to take it on the road so I'm not sure that there will ever be a Universal App as long as Windows supports the desktop in its current form..

The full app is not touch friendly and is a battery hog. Need a Windows universal app.
