[unresolved] Rebuilding index

I have, in the last month, rebuilt my library index twice - and now today (though I did it yesterday) it appears I have to do it again. When the word "righteous" yields no results in a Bible search there is an issue. I am running 6.2.0.0027 on Mac OS X Yosemite.

Is this a bug in the program now? Rebuilding the index takes a couple of hours and does seem to slow down and work the computer hard. Anyone else experiencing this? Any thoughts on what to do?

if you are having troubles, it is good to create a post explaining the issue (as you have done) and to post screen shots and/or logs (if necessary).

When the word "righteous" yields no results in a Bible search there is an issue.

It might be good to see some screen shots... What do you have checked (or unchecked) in the search menu?

I am on Mac OSX 10.10.2 with a 2.6 Ghz Intel Core i7 8GB Ram.

The screenshots from before show the same thing - search will yield no results. It is currently rebuilding or I would do logs. Am in the middle of sermon writing so didn't take the time to write more. Essentially for the search it would be "Search All Bible Text in All Passages in English Standard Version for..." and nothing would come up. I could search for "Jesus' and the results would be "0" (as I just did)

Ugh.

I am unaware of a current mac bug causing the index to become corrupted... there may be something about YOUR installation causing the problem. What kind of hard drive do you have?

I'll second the suggestion that there is something amiss with indexing in recent releases. I'm running Mac client 6.2.0.0027 and have rebuilt my Bible index twice in the last two days when morphological searching ceased working. I noticed with the last update that the indexing process took much longer on my SSD equipped 2013 MBP.

There are too many instances of this problem for anyone to think it is specific to a user. In the absence of feedback from FL we can only encourage you to permanently enable logging and upload the logs when it next occurs.

If it is only Bible/Morph searches that are failing then use the command rebuild bible index.

If it is only Basic searches that are failing then use the command rebuild library index.

If both types are failing us e the command rebuild index

There are too many instances of this problem for anyone to think it is specific to a user.

Thanks for the clarification. I vaguely remember problems along these lines... but it has been a while since I have come across it... perhaps I have just been skipping over them. [:s]

I just finished updating my Mac and Logos. The search function yields 0 results. Something is amiss. I hope Logos fixes this issue quickly! I use the search function often.

Please provide search example(s) that have no results.

As you can see in the two photo's above, the search results in "All Open Resources" yields 0 results. I know these words are at least in BBG. They should be in the others as well. I use these resources weekly at the moment for a Greek class and up to know, have not had a problem. It has great resource.

I do get some results when I do an "Everything" search, though last night this didn't work either. I wish I had posted a picture. Live & Learn. In the "Everything" search, nothing comes up library results. Picture below.

After indexing completes (may take hours), does search for Paul find results ?

Humanly would like to look at Logos diagnostic log files after indexing completes. Rebuilding index many times may be an indication of an underlying storage issue. Personally use a laptop cooler and avoid using computer while rebuilding index.

I can't get to the indexing command, my basic search has quit, similar to what is being reported here. I've seen the posts to reindex, but when I use the keystrokes recommended for MAC; option+command+L nothing happens.

Nicolas - Please create a new thread and explain your issue clearly. If you need to provide logs, see my signature line.

I am not sure what you are trying to accomplish with the keyboard shortcuts. I haven't heard of that one. It sounds like you are trying to reindex with that keyboard combo... which isnt the case. The command is rebuild index ... although it might be in your best interest to create the thread first so we can have an idea of what's going on.

I don't know why it didn't work the several times I tried it BEFORE posting here, but when I was in the middle of creating a BUG report, the command worked. [:s]

I have never used the command before, but if I will try to randomly use it and see if I have troubles again.
