Irving Jensen's INDEPENDENT BIBLE STUDY book to be released this fall
I am in need of feedback on one of my late father's titles being released this fall by Logos/FaithLife: Independent Bible Study (IBS) originally published by Moody Press between 1964-1996 (72,000 sold).
Currently, it is one of 24 titles of his other out-of-print books (see attached list of them all).
I understand that Logos typically sells in COLLECTIONS, so all of these titles will be released together, then possibly separated into individual titles at a later date. I do not have a price yet on the collection, but will post when they alert me.
Of the 24 titles on the list, the IBS book is one that I believe could be a standalone title, but I would like to get your feedback before I proceed with confidence in suggesting that to the editorial department.
I believe it would be a strong seller by itself because, unlike many of Dad's other titles which are Bible studies, this is a TEXTBOOK that teaches how to inductively study God's Word by creating analytical charts on any passages of Scripture. It is the textbook Dad used in his inductive Bible study class at Bryan College for most of the 30 years he taught there.
I have recently collected more than 100 sample analytical charts from former students that I intend to use to promote the re-publication of the IBS book here at Logos. Here are 5 samples (note that the text inside the rectangular box in the center of each chart is strictly Scripture, called "talking text," while everything outside the box reflects insights from the Bible student on that Scripture passage:

My two questions are:
1) Am I off-base in thinking that the IBS book (which teaches this chart method) could be a successful single-book release?
2) Would a separate (non-Logos) electronic product (eBook, pdf, or such) of just these 100+ sample charts be worth selling for around $12?
Related to question 2, FYI, I don't intend to keep the profits, but would be able to set up affiliates (for free) who would get their own link to promote it in emails/website & such and would get 100% of the $12, or whatever price you suggest is on target. This would help build my email list to announce the launch of the IBS book when it comes out this Sept/Oct. Make sense?
As I've been receiving these chart samples from former students for the past couple of weeks, I've been struck by the BEAUTY and DEPTH of God's Word as reflected in the creative expression of this type of inductive Bible study! I pray God will use these as catalysts to encourage us to dig deeper in His Word.

It is exciting to hear that the works of Irving Jensen are coming to Logos - the Word IS so deep and so beautiful when seen in a detailed, orderly way - Praise the Lord! <>< Regarding your questions, IBS would be the essential resource to offer as stand-alone, and/or would be great "paired" with a book of charts in a sub-package (much as Logos/ Faithlife handled the NT works of Ralph P. Martin). I attended MBI, and have Moody Press print copies of most of your father's work. These have been treasures. Grace and peace.

I personally will prefer to have all his work in one collection but do realise others may prefer it as a standalone.

Like Ted, I would prefer a collection but would purchase as a standalone. A resounding yes to the analytic charts which I would prefer in Logos media for the indexing.

I would love to see IBS in Logos format. My paper copy is in tatters. I would highly recommend it to all. It is an excellent resource and has helped me immeasurably over the years in my own study efforts and in teaching. It was most likely the one of the single most beneficial resources for me personally of any other in learning really how to study God's Word. As a teacher in inductive studies, I often have students who say things like, I made observations, and a list, and a chart. and many other things your dad advanced in IBS. So, yes, I believe it would be a successful single-book release.
I would like the chart book, too. It would be super.

Yes to having it as a single book solo because it would clearly sell like hotcakes and really is a core item. A collection is desirable to a smaller audience;my thought would be that IBS would do well included in other study packages and then lead to collection package purchase later. A win-win.

I personally would like to see IBS published separately. it would inspire others to see the example charts in some format, perhaps as Logos graphics, so do find a way to make them available.

I would love to see an ebook version. Especially one that would allow you to zoom in on the images. Not sure if the prices of viewing images in Kindleb show for much of that ability. I saved your sample images and enjoyed reviewing them on my iPad.

Oh yes, methinks it would definitely be a very successful single book release and $12 would be very reasonable, IMO, FWIW!
Thank you SO much, BTW, for the electronic copy you made available way back when of the original copy of the IBS - I was fortunate enough to manage a single copy of the early 90's reprint of the IBS book after it was recommended reading in a Kay Arthur book back then. My paper copy which I still treasure was literally in tatters and then some when you so kindly made the copy available here to me and others!
I'd be pleased to be able to get your single book IBS print release as well as to obtain a Logos copy of of the entire collection!

And here's an update on the standalone IBS (Independent Bible Study) and the sample charts eBook:
STANDALONE IBS will be made available in about a week here at Logos at the retail price of $6.99.
SAMPLE ANALYTICAL CHARTS eBOOK turned into a massive project with 350+ charts received from 63 former students of Dad's! I will be releasing it under the name: Unlock the Bible Student in You sometime early January. PDF format. I plan to offer it as a bonus product, along with a webinar training that shows the steps of creating the charts. Will price under $10.

Jensen's Do It Yourself Bible Study books revolutionized my Bible study and teaching decades ago!
