Can't reinstall Logos 6

I was using 6.5 Beta 5, and we got an error at the Hope Page. Not knowing I could have worked around it (maybe), I uninstalled it and reinstalled the normal Logos 6. I didn't know it would have to download all my resources. Yikes!

But Logos 6 is stuck at about 8% or 10% of my resources and won't even try. Here's approximately what happened.

1. Beta crashes at the home page.
2. Two rounds of phone calls leading to uninstalling the beta.
3. Then I download Logos 6 (non-beta) and went to bed, thinking all my resources would be present in the morning.
4. But they aren't. I have a 256 Gb SSD (too small for me, but adequate for everything I have been using, including all of my Logos), and I just upgraded to Windows 10. So the old Windows files were still there, and Logos says there's no space left.
5. I deleted Windows.old, freeing about 20 Gb.
6. Logos won't budge. I have about 1317 resources downloaded, but I have around 11,000 resources total. I tell Logos to update, and it doesn't even seem to know that fact.

So Logos 6 is installed and working well, sans my library (except about 10% of it).

I'm wondering: those resources were already on my hard drive. Should I have manually deleted them? And if so, where?

Previously, with everything up-to-date in Logos, and in Windows 10, I had about 20+ Gb left on my SSD. So I should be OK.

It is often the case that you CAN'T install an older stable over current beta... which is why users need to take heed with the warnings. If you must have access to a particular instillation, you shouldn't be using beta.

I didn't know it would have to download all my resources. Yikes!

Normally, when you delete the application (by itself) and download the engine, it should install and leave the data (including resources) alone. This problem may very well may be because you tried to install the stable engine over the beta one. You only deleted the engine, not the resources, right? Do you know where the resources and .db files are kept?

No you shouldn't! A hard drive, even an SSD, needs "room to breath." 20 GB isn't enough!

Have you tried to download the beta again (which is what I recommend at this point)?

    Thanks for your response, alabama24!

I uninstalled the beta. Then I downloaded and installed the current stable. I do not need or want anything from the beta. And so far as I know, I did not install the stable over the beta.

I understand that the hard drive needs "room to breathe." FWIW, File Explorer was not "red" previous, so Windows seemed to think it was OK, although it was just a few Gb away from red.

So you think that I should install the beta from my new "stable" installation? (I think this was a command within the Logos top box.)

Logos has two parts: the software engine and the data files (including resources and database files). Did you delete all of the data files? It doesn't sound like it, since you suggested that you were expecting the books to be there and not have to re-download them. In which case, you installed the stable OVER the beta... It doesn't matter if you deleted the app engine or not, changes were made to the data files and they are expecting the beta version, not the older stable version.

So you think that I should install the beta from my new "stable" installation?

Yes. Since your installation already is expecting the beta version, you should ride it out... unless you want to delete everything and start again. If you choose the later, you can move just the resource files to an external drive, delete everything else, reinstall the stable engine and use the "scan" method to bring the resources back in without having to redownload them. You will still have to index everything, but it will save you from the download.

I uninstalled it and reinstalled the normal Logos 6.

It's possible the stable Logos 6 was installed to a different folder in C:\Users\username\AppData\Local e.g. 6.5 Beta 5 could have been in the old \Logos5 folder, but re-installing will cause it to use the \Logos folder, thereby avoiding the crash that usually happens when reverting from Beta to Stable. You can check if both folders exist and delete the \Logos5 folder (it won't contain any resources).

Logos won't budge. I have about 1317 resources downloaded, but I have around 11,000 resources total. I tell Logos to update,

The command Update Resources should get any missing resources

So Logos 6 is installed and working well, sans my library (except about 10% of it).

Earlier you said you had about 10% (1317 resources) downloaded??

See my comment above. Uninstalling in Windows deletes the \Data folder which includes resources but leaves \Documents which normally causes problems when reverting from Beta to Stable, except if it was in the \Logos5 or \Logos4 folder from a previous version (a new installation of Logos 6 uses the \Logos folder).

Now I'm up to about 25% of my resources, but "No Updates Available." So plenty won't download.

Not sure why this worked: I trashed by installation of Logos 6 stable for the second time, just uninstalling and deleting the folders \Logos5 and \Logos. (Those are the only \Logos* folders that I have.) Now it works and all my resources are downloaded. Not sure why it didn't work the first time.
