Sometimes there are books you want in Vyrso, but the price ain't right. This happened to me a while back when I learned that Vyrso carried The Anabaptists and Contemporary Baptists: Restoring New Testament Christianity by Malcolm Yarnell. The "list price" shown in Vyrso is $29.99. The steady kindle price for the past year and a half was $28.49. I don't remember what Vyrso was selling the resource for, but I picked it up today for .99. Here is how I did it.

  • Visit ereaderIQ (a price tracking website for kindle books) and search for the book
  • Scroll down to view the price history chart. Some books go on sale from the publisher regularly and you can see that pattern. In any case, you can use the chart to figure out a price point to be notified of. In my case, the book had never gone on sale, but I chose a price point of $5. If the book ever met that criterion, I would be sent an email... which is what happened this morning.
  • Under the "notify me" section, click "Log in to be notified when the price of this book drops." (Log in means giving them your email address. If you have visited the site before, you may not need to do this step)
  • Once you are logged in, you can type a price point and click the "set notification price"
  • If you want to view the books you are tracking, click the "my watch list" tab and then click the button under the "price drop watch list" section.

FWIW - There is also a great price tracker for non-ebook resources called camelcamelcamel. Dumb name, great site.

As a reminder: This technique is only good for Vyrso books, and will only help you when the price drop is related to a publisher sale. If Amazon is selling the book as a "loss leader", Vyrso won't "price match." If you don't see the Vyrso book at a similar price, check a few other sites such as nook / cbd / apple books and see if the price is in line with Kindle. If so, feel free to create a thread asking about pricing in the Vyrso Forum (NOT in the general forum, or you are likely to have a thread go unnoticed by the Vyrso team).
