highlighting Question

This may be a stupid question but I have never used it before so I really don't know.

I have been studying/reading a particular book on my iPad using Logos and have highlighted numerous comments but when I opened the book on my desktop the highlights were not carried over.

I highlighted a few section on my desktop and they were not present on the iPad the next time I launched Logos neither.

Does highlighting not preserve between the two? If this is the case will I have a similar problem with notes?

If everything is being done and working correctly, highlights should appear on both devices.

If this is the case will I have a similar problem with notes?

Highlights = Notes... just a special kind of note. They are notes with a highlight visual filter applied.

    Some questions:

    1. Do you know where your highlight notes are being stored in L6?
    2. Do you know where your highlight notes are being stored on mobile? (the place where the notes are being stored may be different)
    3. Do you know how to turn highlights on/off VISUALLY in each resource (desktop & mobile)?
    4. Can you verify that you are using the same credentials?
    5. Have you checked https://documents.logos.com to see if the notes are appearing?

The default behavior in L4/L5/L6 is for highlight notes to go into a note document named after the highlighter pallet. So if you use a "Natural Highlighter," you will have a note document named "Natural Highlighter." With this original method, notes are not tied to a highlighting style or resource, but to the palette. If you didn't change the behavior, that is where they are stored. To be honest, this is a bad thing for anyone who likes to highlight prolifically. Large note files can cause a number of problems, especially on the mobile platforms.

FWIW - The behavior is controlled in different places desktop vs. mobile (very poor implementation). On the desktop app, you hover over the right hand side of the palette name to reveal a button for a menu which pops down. The behavior for that pallet is controlled in that menu. On mobile, the behavior is changed app wide (rather than palette wide). NOTE: The behavior on desktop is controlled palette by palette, whereas on mobile there is a single setting to control the behavior app wide. ALSO NOTE: This behavior does not sync between devices and apps. I believe it is best to keep the behavior the same on all devices, but you could have a desktop using the default (palette specific) behavior, a mobile app using "resource specific" behavior, and another app using "last used note document." You need to make sure you understand these clearly and set up the behavior that you want on each device.

Do you know how to turn highlights on/off VISUALLY in each resource (desktop & mobile)? No

In each resource, there is a visual filter menu. The icon looks like three circles.

Yes. Credentials = username + password

Have you checked https://documents.logos.com to see if the notes are appearing? No

    Please do so.

My Desktop was using the "Palette-specific Note File" for the various Highlight types. My iPad and Galaxy Note 4 were not. I now have all three using the "Palette-specific Note File" and all Highlights working properly now.
