Short answer is the standard packages will never become obsolete. Logos Now is simply a means to take advantage of new features before they are incorporated into the standard packages. While I am not a Logos employee, I have been around long enough to guess that many of the Logos Now features/datasets currently being released will be eventually be included in Logos 7.

Thanks John. I had heard that earlier but, the marketing ( pretty intensive ) had me wondering if I misunderstood and this was going to replace/make obsolete an actual software package. I'm honestly quite early of things being "cloud dependent " - to many things go wrong to often , in too many areas. Just want to work when and where I want to work- don't want to lose that ability because internet , router, data streams are interrupted .

personally not going to pay another monthly "phone/data " type fee- for anything.

Yes, hopefully the new datasets etc will be in logo 7 or even eventually in logos 6. As for cloud dependency I wonder if recent outage last week impacted Logos Now or not? Either way, when one is some place where wifi is not available or cannot be obtained for free the thought of relying on the cloud is not a good thing.

I have taken a wait and see approach as to what the future holds and will leave things in the 'save for later' portion of the cart for now.

The features I find most compelling in Logos Now don't require a cloud connection, you can use them off line anytime you want. mostly media items need a connection to work. I look at the fee for Logos Now and its worth it too me to be able to use these features for the next couple of years until Logos 7 comes out. The concordance module is awesome!

I signed up for a year of Logos Now last month, taking advantage of my birthday coupon.

I would say that with the additions today, it has become a very good value that should be compelling to a lot more people,

One thing I think that FL is not talking about enough: Now subscribers also get special coupons each month. In July they worked out rather well for me; every month might not be as attractive, but they sweeten the deal quite a bit.

Hmmm, I went for Logos Cloud premium instead of Now because I like the idea of getting the extra resources. But I assume Cloud doesn't get these coupons since I haven't received any. I may need to reconsider.

I did not see it in the information about the update, but did this update correct the problem that when you open Logos it updates the Library everytime? It brings Logos to a stand still while it is updating the library. It does this everytime for me and I was hoping (and was told) that this update would fix that.

My Logos install auto updated, then crashed and now is failing to open. Opening on the terminal gives

LSOpenURLsWithRole() failed with error -10810 for the file /Applications/Logos.app.

Downloading the package again, via a very slow internet connection. Anyone have any suggestions while i wait for it to download? (2h 44m)

Edit: Looking into the system log i suspect this may be a separate issue and so i will start a new thread.

Logos 6.5 crashes when doing setup in Win10 OS. The error is at access to resources.dll. The options are to retry (fails always) or cancel (which works and reverts to the 6.4 installation. Hope a fix is in the works.

In Win10 the setup stops at access to the resources.dll file. It offers the option of retry (always fails) or cancel (reverts to Logos 6.4). Hope there is a solution for Win10 users.

It's better to start a new thread for problems.

Fixing ownership of the Logos folder should resolve the issue. Note that your folder could be "Logos" or "Logos5" and that this will correct the problem in all files, as well as resources.dll.

Thanks Dave, I ensured that I (alone) am identified as the Administrator in Win 10. Even that did not work. After calling Tech Support at Logos we found that after establishing my ownership as Administrator of all folders and files that opening Logos 6.4 as Administrator, it downloaded the 6.5 files. After closing Logos I opened it as Administrator and the update to Logos 6.5 worked quickly and smoothly.

Previously, even trying the fresh install with Logos 6 installation setup did not work. It's a minor nuisance to open Logos 6 for updates as Administrator, but it seems to be a simple solution. I am told that Windows in general has the tendency to get credentials, ownership mixed up with some files not identified properly. Long answer to a very thoughtful and much appreciated response to my need. Thanks again. It's good to know we have members in the Forum with your kind of expertise.
