v6.6 B1: Comments on New Features

1. Concordance

If I choose Lemma refinements using the check box, there is no change if I click on Lemma at the top of the column on the RHS i.e. I have to deselect then re-select a refinement to see it again.

2. Passage List Visual Filter

Slightly confusing when my Hebrew PL is in Protestant canonical order (for ESV Preferred Bible) but the verse mapping is Hebrew e.g Mal 3:19-24  ---> Mal 4:1-6 (ESV)

When ESV is filtered this way with the actual PL open in  another tile, each entry clicked in the PL opens a new copy of the ESV!

3. Corresponding Words VF

Works well, but the highlighting should be different from normal text selection, which remains on a word and is confusing.

    This is a known issue.

I you mean another color (an user can select which color), yes I follow your suggestion.

Yes, it should be a different colour

It is different to what is stated as I'm not switching resources

Should be fixed in beta 2. (At least it worked when I just tried it.)

This is a longstanding and well-documented bug in English Bible versification. [:-)] But seriously, I think we're doing the right thing and it's the underlying facts that are confusing.

When ESV is filtered this way with the actual PL open in  another tile, each entry clicked in the PL opens a new copy of the ESV!

This is a bug in Passage Lists that has been there for a long time. (It's annoying.)

Agreed. We'll be changing the colors in beta 3 to be more distinct from selection, but they're still in the blue end of the spectrum. We've tried lots of other combos, and with overlapping transparency ... well ... everything ends up brown eventually.

Nevermind. I just managed to broke it. [:$] Clearly some issues there. We'll fix 'em. Thanks!

I haven't broke it yet! But if there is a heading like

Root > xField: Bible Text; Surface Text

the Fields is a link that does nothing but it takes a second or so to think about it!

Passage List has been in need of a fix since it was introduced (I kid you not), because of the disjunction between the (bible) resources that created the list and the assumed bible for the bible datatypes e.g. I have to input three translations NRSV, BHW 4.18, AFAT before I can get a link to target the passage for those translations (ESV is preferred bible).

But if there is a heading like

Root > xField: Bible Text; Surface Text

the Fields is a link that does nothing but it takes a second or so to think about it!

Clicking on a breadcrumbs item (not on the "x") does the same as the exclusive modes (Word, Works Cited, etc.): it selects only that breadcrumb item removing all others. It only makes sense if you have multiple items in the breadcrumb; it will appear to do nothing if you have only one item.

With inclusive refinements, the comma separated options under a single heading are one breadcrumb item (note there's only one "x" as well).

    So if you had:

Root > xField: Bible Text; Surface Text > xPart of Speech: Noun

and clicked on  xField: Bible Text; Surface Text, then you'd narrow the filter down to:

Root > xField: Bible Text; Surface Text

thereby removing xPart of Speech: Noun.

I'm not sure why that's the behavior (try it in Word or Works Cited; it behaves the same), but that's what it's doing now.

Scott, the bug I was seeing is that the facets on the LHS sometimes don't repopulate when you interact with the breadcrumb. (I'll file a case.)

I understand what clicking on a "breadcrumb" does (whether multiple items or just one), but clicking a single "crumb" as in my example refreshes the list.when it should literally do nothing.

This should be fixed in 6.6 Beta 3.
