Greetings everyone,

I just wanted to give you all a heads up regarding a resource update that is coming this evening.

These periodic updates can be fixes to typos, links, headings or any number of small content or aesthetic fixes. On top of fixes, they may also include additions to some material as well.

If you happened to have all of the resources being updated tonight it would be a 1.71 GB download. Be assured that these updates will replace the current book files that you currently have and not take up additional hard drive room.

As always, if for whatever reason, you would like to opt out of the receiving automatic updates simply turn off Automatic Updates in Tools /  Program Settings by turning off Automatically Download Updates.

The items being updated are

    BillS,

As far as I can tell, the update will be for the beta channel too with some slight variance for resources already released to beta users.

Thanks, Jayson! You folks are awesome... To prevent confusion in my installation, then, I'll set my update channel back on beta. (To ensure I got the updated resources, I had put it on "normal" after posting.)

Thanks much for letting folks know what's coming! You folks are awesome...

Long download & indexing, here I come.... ;-) (Maybe I can get some work done instead of hanging around the forums! LOL)

BTW, I still don't seem my NIV reverse interlinear on your list. (hint, hint)

I for one, was glad to see the titles that are being upgraded.

One thought comes to mind...ever notice how NONE of the books relating to marriage include the word "apologetic".

I guess maybe another topic, huh?

What were you hoping for? Maybe some sort of title like In Defense of Marriage: An Apologetic for the Church.

Or were you thinking more along the lines of the other meaning of apologetic...   "I'm Sorry, Honey": How to Be Apologetic in Your Marriage.  [;)]

BTW, I still don't see my NIV reverse interlinear on your list. (hint, hint)

This is a bit further off (months, not weeks). We're hoping for the NT portion in the mid-late spring; no estimate on the OT portion yet. But the entire Lexham NT will make the cut well before then (hint, hint).

By the way, I'm looking at the table of contents for this. It looks complete, but since it follows a different order than Rahlfs, its hard to tell. And my print volumes of Swete don't have a table of contents to check against.

Morphology is on its way too, right?

Oh, and links between the apparatus & the addenda to the apparatus would be nice so we can have that info in the pop ups (incidentally, links to addenda would be very nice in a number of books -- most notably Robertson's big grammar).

Your mileage may vary, but you may want to consider doing a "Merge Index" after the download comes down. I got 88 files and 1.13 GB, and the Supplemental Index was large.  Maybe it's not large enough to force a merge (is that 25% of index size?), but my experience has been that even with a small supplemental index I get 2 sets of results on a search.

Bradley Grainger explains that New Resources duplicates results in a Basic Search:

[quote]Only when "Library Results" sorts By Book, in which case the
supplemental index results are merged in to the main display. (Ideally,
the New Resources section would be hidden in that case, but it
currently doesn't hide/show itself depending on the Library Results
view setting.) If you always search By Book, permanently collapse the
New Resources section, because you don't need it.

    But

[quote]If you're searching the main Library index by rank, New Resources need
to be displayed in a different section. If sorting by resource (the "By
Book" sort, or a Bible Search, which always groups hits by resource),
the results can be merged without problem.

So, if you want to avoid the confusion it would indeed be better to merge indexes. If you only search by book then permanantly collapse the New Resources section.

What date should all these resources show in my files in explorer please?

e.g. I have amongst many others ESV inter-linears but the "modified" dates shown are all some time ago.  Does this mean they have not updated or is this date not significant.

I have updated today to SR 3 and clicked the icon to download updates.  The system also went through an indexing cycle.

Apart from this I am not having any problems with L4 and the recent updates.

Yep that's me, I love to search by Rank.  It seems so much more intuitive, as the book I am looking for is almost always Rank #1, sorted alphabetically down the list if I have only typed in the appropriate keyword or two that will distinguish the book.  Of course I have to then click to get sort by rank, then slide the slider up to the top to see it.  I sure hope this is made easier in the future, or AT LEAST the preference to sort by Rank and have the slider bar at the top is maintained if I click to use it that way!

I see 3 french bibles in this list that I would love to have.

Nouvelle Loius Segond, Oecumenique, and Langue Courant...Is there any chance that you will ever sell these outside of the Stuttgartt collection?

There is only 1 (released in 1910) French bible currently available by itself.  I don't know how much business you do in Canada, Europe, or Africa, but it would seem the market for a few French bibles (maybe even an interlinear) would be large enough, especially since they're already digitized. Single or packaged would be better than nothing. I would have put this in the French section of the forum, if one existed. Admins feel free to move my post.

I work for a Bible Translation organization who could definately use these resources in Africa.

    Thanks in Advance.  ~Matthew

I downloaded the update this morning (1.1 gig for me) but indexing is taking forever. Before church this evening I had aprox 1 hr and 37 min left of indexing. Three hours later it says that I have 26 hours to go. How can this be? Anyone else having problems indexing?

    Jason,

Why do I have to go looking for this kind of update information on a website...why can't it be available readily from within the program's standard interface, like it used to be in v3?  A step backward in my opinion.

I totally agree with John Bengtson. Information should be displayed within the progarm or via e-mail.

Also I have the feeling new resources have been added. I have Scholars and after the update I have an additional five resources. One is the NT backgound that became live today after being pre-pub, but what are the other four new resources. It's next to impossible to make that out reading the exntesive list at the beginning of this thread. New resourecs are nice but they're even nicer if I know what they are.

In the short term, go to your Resources folder, order it my date, and you will see the most recent resources added new or modified.  Now in this update you may have 80-90 new ones.  Anyway, if you still have Logos 3, you can open there by filename and see what they are.

Now that certainly is non-trivial and not user friendly to be sure; in the longer term, Bob has suggested that under the Library, there will be a column added called "Last Updated" and then you can see the latest updates right in your Library view! So be patient...

OK, but that gives me information after the fact.  Not useful if I want to know whether suffering through an extended download is worthwhile to me vs. deferring it.  With v3 you can make an informed decision.

In any case I'm not using v4 regularly yet because (unbelievably) it still can't import all my notes from v3.  That's an absolute bedrock critical function for me, as I use Logos first thing in the morning for my daily Bible reading/study.  If I'd known notes transfer wasn't yet available, I certainly wouldn't have been an early purchaser.

Note importation is in Beta testing right now. So when 4.0b goes gold you will get all your Libronix notes. Or, if you want to Beta test you can get them right now.

Libronix wasn't consistently friendly about resource updates. You would get some via Libronix Update where the information was in its dialog box. Then came a Resource Update script with the same interface, but we initially (v1?, v2, and early v3) had to use tailored FTP programs to get all the updates!  A lot of update info came via the Newsgroup!

It wasn't "available readily from within the program's standard interface" but it is a good suggestion for L4.

Hmmm...when I say "Tools" / "Libronix Update" in v3, I get a list of what it proposes to download.  That's "readily available...standard interface" in my book.
