Question about something Mo said in his quickstart Training videos..

Hi.. In the video on the Library when Mo was going over how the setup all your preferred items, when he got to the commentaries, he stated you want a single volume commentary listed first before you list a multi volume and then he said I will tell you in another lesson why you need to do this.. But I never remember him mentioning this again in the rest of the videos.

Could anyway explain why this is a good thing to do and why?

If I remember correctly, it's because it covers the entire Bible rather than just a portion of it.

This recommendation is only useful if you have a one-volume commentary that provides you with what you need. If you do not, the recommendation is practically worthless.

A better idea would be to prioritize a custom series in this location.

This recommendation is only useful if you have a one-volume commentary that provides you with what you need. If you do not, the recommendation is practically worthless.

A better idea would be to prioritize a custom series in this location.

By memory it is to do with setting up parallel resources where you need a single volume commentary in order for it to work properly, so rather strangely it does not matter whether you use the commentary or not, you just need it for the parallel resources to work.

It doesn't matter in Logos as "All Parallel Resources" will get you out of a hole e.g. you are in a "parallel" collection of commentaries dedicated to Mark's gospel and you want to switch to John's gospel. Libronix would leave you in the hole unless you set parallel (and serial) resource associations and collections with care.

I think that the advantage is that you can click to your parallels from one single volume resource on the hot-bar which will always work as it covers the while bible.

There may be an advantage but you originally called it a "need"!

My "go to" single-volume is my preferred commentary and it is always listed first in "All Parallel Resources"!
