BUG: Columns not working in new version
Logos just updated ityself to Logos Bible Software 6.6 6.6.0.0056
Now columns are not working correctly. reading thios morning it looked OK but then when I paged down the number or columns changed - and now it seems whatever I do it only allows one column. I have tried Auto (my usual setting) as well as numbers - but this gets ignored. It sometimes shows two columns (but really wide columns with a wide window).

Hi Jonathan
I can't reproduce this.
It does sometimes happen if you are getting close to a place in a resource which won't fit in multiple columns - needs the entire width of the page.
Is this a possibility here? And are you seeing this in all resources or just one (if so, which one)?

Hi Graham.
It seems that the NIV and ESV are affected. A commentary I'm looking at does not seem to be. It's not that Logos never shows columns. I am in Exodus 22 for example. In a pop-up window as I widen the window columns do appear, but they're really wide. Also if I force say 2 columns when the window is wide but only showing one, it may flash up two columns but then reverts immediately to one. This behaviour has changed this morning with the new release.
In testing I also notice the left/right-arrow key behaviour has messed up. I'll post that in another thrread.

I can't reproduce this in Exodus 22 with either NIV or ESV
I am running on Windows 8.1. What platform are you using?

I am running WIndows 7.
Maybe someone from Logos could confirm that column behaviour has been changed in the latest version - or guarante it hasn;t been touched in the code!!!

One sometimes get odd behavior when there is a fixed width chart or image in the text ... sometimes just out of view. Any chance this is going on? If so, wider columns should solve the problem.
Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."

Thanks. No, it's just plain text in the Bible.

It would probably help us diagnose this issue if you could post a screencast of the problem happening. "Jing" is a free program to record and publish screencasts: https://www.techsmith.com/jing.html

Thanks Bradley. Good idea. I've made a video file but it's quite big (14MB). It shows how in NIV and ESV columns are wacky - but in NIVUK they work as expected! Can you eitehr give me a public upload folder where I can place it, or email me on my account so I can send you a Dropbox link please?

Thanks Dylan. I've emailed the link back. When I watch the video back, the behaviour looks even more weird!

Thanks Jonathan. I agree that it looks weird! I'm not able to reproduce the behavior, but I've created a case for our developers to investigate.

Jonathan,
Could you please provide a screenshot of your Visual Filters menu? One of the devs recommended seeing what happens if you have all of your Note visual filters disabled. Please let me know if you still see this behavior with the Notes filters off.
Thanks!

Hey Dylan.
I went to Lv 5 (where there is no highlighting and no Notes nearby), turned off Notes, and Visual Filters and Reading Plans. Same behaviour. Turned off just Notes. Same behaviour.
Hope that helps.

Thanks Jonathan, that does help. The developers are looking into the underlying issue currently, still trying to track down what's going on in this case.
Another question that came up was, what resource font and font size/program scaling setting do you have? We're not sure if that could be relevant yet, but gathering additional data is useful. [:)]

In Program Settings, it's Calibri, 110%. I tried varuiosu scaling factors in the Bible resource itself. Similar behaviour at different sizes.

Thanks again, Jonathan. With font set to Calibri, I can reproduce the behavior, and have passed that info on to the devs.
For a workaround, I was getting correct behavior from Default, Arial, Bookman Old Style, Times New Roman.. Changing your font to one of those should correct the behavior until we have a fix.
Problem fonts I've found are Calibri, Verdana, and Comic Sans MS. There may be others I haven't tried yet.

Thanks Dylan.
I'm trying TW Cen MT as a workaround - seems OK at the moment. But looking forward to getting back use of Calibri! I don't like serif fonts for on-screen, and Arial is too brash!!!

Hello,
Same issue for me with the same resources, NIV, ESV, KJV and probably more. My default font is set to Georgia, 100%.
Issue is present both on OSX and Windows 10.

This should be fixed in 6.6 SR-1.
