After an update on Friday (10/16/15) indexing would finish with a crash.
A complete program and folder removal and reinstall today (10/21) did not improve the outcome.

What do you mean by "a complete program and folder removal and reinstall"? You deleted everything and redownloaded all resources from scratch?

Yes, i did exactly as you said. Completely deleted everything and re-downloaded all resources.
The usual fix is to delete only the library index folder - /Users/bp/Library/Application Support/Logos4/Data/37nnsmpz.odk/LibraryIndex.
