Copy Bible Verses Tool problem

Member Posts: 986 ✭✭✭

I want to edit an existing Copy style, or create a new one. When I click Create New Style I get a nice looking set of panes. The bottom shows the biblical text according to the most recent style chosen. The top pane, where I assume all the codes are supposed to go, is blank, and Logos will not let me click in the pane to add anything. There isn't white text in the white pane; I've tried selecting everything, and nothing is there. The mouse cursor changes to a text editing I-beam while over that box, so something is happening.

I've pasted in a screenshot of that portion, but it's just what I described.

I'm using a Mac running El Capitan, and Logos 6.7 beta 3, 6.7.0.0017. I saw the same behavior earlier running (I think) Logos 6.2 SR.

Hi Gregory - and welcome to the forums

The top pane, where I assume all the codes are supposed to go, is blank, and Logos will not let me click in the pane to add anything. There isn't white text in the white pane; I've tried selecting everything, and nothing is there. The mouse cursor changes to a text editing I-beam while over that box, so something is happening.

    Very strange.

As per my screenshot below I get the codes that you would expect

I am running the same beta version as you but on Windows. Hopefully another Mac user will be able to check this and see if it is a general issue.

I've tried restarting Logos, and I bumped up to the latest beta version. I haven't tried restarting my computer yet, which is always a good thing to try.

Well, those guys on the It Crowd are pretty smart; restarting my Mac solved the problem. Ours is not to reason why . . .

Glad it is working for you now

Well, the blank editing pane is back, as explained in the original post. Restarting Logos and my Mac don't correct it. It's very frustrating to have such a simple idea fail on execution. Any other ideas about fixing it?

It looks similar to the problem posted at https://community.logos.com/forums/t/117787.aspx. I've asked a question in that thread as to whether they are related

Thanks for doing that, Graham. Right now I'm reloading Logos entirely, backing down from the most recent beta to the most recent stable release. I really dislike doing this, since my library weighs in at almost 20 gigs, and it's going to take several hours to index once it's done. Normally I wouldn't do this on a Friday (not with Sunday coming), but I've got a noon meeting two hours away, and I'll be gone several hours anyway.

I really hope to see a fix of this, since it's really a powerful feature.
