Logos 6.7 Running Very Slow

For some reason my new version of Logos seemed to slow down my entire Logos program. For example, my SERIES [moving from Old Testament to New Testament] are extremely slow and even opening the tabs is slow. As far as I know, no indexing or other programs on my computer are running to slow it down. Is anyone else having this problem?

agreed - it is a lot slower. Stuff which was instant is now a wait of 2 secs. It's a shame I was enjoying the speed!

Mac OS 10.11.1 Logos 6.7

Tried this with NICOT/NT and Tyndale. Switch was always instantaneous.

Perhaps some logs would assist.

Yes, logs would be helpful here. The developers have tried to reproduce the slowness from the earlier description, but we've thus far been unable to.

Hey Dylan,

I helped out Bill today and took a look into his machine. The program was primarily slowing down when opening up a layout, bringing up the visual filter menu, and occasionally when jumping between verses in scripture. Bill has a LOT of passage lists, and the logs show some information about that, so that could be part of the contributing factor. Attached are the logos.log files and the cef.log.

Hi, all.

We introduced a visual filter that filters your Bible down to a passage list for Logos Now. If you have more than 1,000 passage list documents, that is a likely culprit. We'll look into whether or not that's the cause, but in the meantime:

Is everyone who is seeing this slow down a Logos Now subscriber? (This filter only ships with Logos Now.)
Does it help if you turn off the Passage Lists visual filter group? (Shown below. You may have to uncheck this option in multiple resources.)

Logos Now user here too. When I click on the 3 concentric circles for the Visual Filters, fans start running, and sometimes I get a display driver restart after crash in Windows 10. The mouse will be on and off unresponsive for about 5 seconds, then all is fine.

Is there a way to turn off all the passage lists in the Passage Lists visual filter group for all resources? I did a right click and did not see it. I Know I can turn off any given passage list in all resources.

Beta 4 of 6.8 just shipped moments ago and it has a new command-line-only setting to disable the Passage Lists visual filter altogether (as in, it doesn't even load or appear on the menu at all). This is a temporary band-aid fix to help you-all who are experiencing significant slowdowns. Obviously, if the feature doesn't load, you can't use it ... but I bet some of you are okay with that.

Release notes.

There are potential risks associated with installing beta software (read this first). If living on the edge is not for you, then this fix will appear in the 6.8 stable release which is scheduled for the week of Dec 14.

Procedure:

Install 6.8 Beta 4.
Type "Set Show Passage Lists Visual Filter to No" in the command box at the top of the application and hit ENTER. (See screenshot below.)
Nothing will happen ... until you restart Logos.
Confirm the fix by opening a resource panel and then clicking on the visual filters menu. If the Passage Lists section is now gone, then the command was successful.

Please post back to this thread if this doesn't work, or even if it does work and you just want to let us know. We're pretty sure this will fix anything associated with the Passage Lists visual filter, but there may be other issues specific to you.

As Eli said, this "fix" will set your system "free" from the "bondage" of having too many passage lists [as I have]. My Logos program is now running very well - thanks to Eli and the developers.
