Yes, James, I've got the exact same problem, except with Office 2010. Once again a Logos update has resulted in the loss of Smart Tags. This makes the nth time this has occurred. I'm suspecting the problem has to do with the fact that Logos moved the SmartTags dll to a different folder, and we would have to manually fix it, but so far I've not been able to fix it. Perhaps someone can help us! I posted earlier today about this under an older thread from the last time this occurred with Logos 6.3.

For anyone who may be able to help, I tried running the command regsvr32 %LOCALAPPDATA%\Logos4\System\L4SmrtTg.dll since the L4SmrtTg.dll is now located back in the System folder in Logos 6.7, but I get an error message indicating that the User module did not load and could not be found, but the path shown is absolutely the correct one--in other words I find the L4SmrtTg.dll is found in the System folder of the appropriate User pathway.
Try repairing Logos Bible Software in Control Panel >> Programs and Features i.e right click the program name and choose Repair.
Mine was broken, too. Reported in the 6.7 thread that I tried this tip, but ended up having to re-register the software. It's working again.
Good job otherwise on the update.

The Repair solution worked yesterday and SmartTags began to function properly. However, when I start Logos and Word today, SmartTags are gone again. Tried running the Repair again, but to no avail. Also tried registering again, but that fails also with the same error message as before.
I began to wonder if mine is stable so I shut everything down & rebooted... still works.
Here's a copy of the contents of my SmrtTag.bat file. It helps me not have to remember all the commands & also not to forget to navigate to the directory with the dll in it before executing the commands. Any time Logos changes the directories where Logos.exe & L4SmrtTg.dll are located, I just update the bat file & change the two directory names to the new directory names. For your machine, just substitute your user name for "YOUR_USER_NAME".
CD C:\Users\YOUR_USER_NAME\AppData\Local\Logos5\
Logos.exe /register
CD C:\Users\YOUR_USER_NAME\AppData\Local\Logos5\System
regsvr32 L4SmrtTg.dll
CD C:\users\YOUR_USER_NAME
Hope this helps.

I need help too! I have tried all the steps above to no avail. I don't have a Logos 5 folder mine is Logos 4 or plain Logos. I have added the folder \system\ to logos4 an installed L4smrtg,dll there. I am at a loss as to what to do. My wife, who uses this program is ready to quite using Logos because of this Smart tag mess.

Please state exactly the command you have tried or provide a screen shot of the Command Prompt window.
If you type %LOCALAPPDATA% into Windows File Explorer it will show you the name of the Logos folder e.g. \Logos4, \Logos5 or \Logos.

I have run in the CMD prompt these commands:
C:\Users\Linda>CD C:\Users\Linda\AppData\Local\Logos4\Logos.exe /register
(this one does not work)
The system cannot find the path specified.
C:\Users\Linda>CD C:\Users\Linda\AppData\Local\Logos4\Logos.exe/register
The system cannot find the path specified.
C:\Users\Linda>
CD C:\Users\Linda\AppData\Local\Logos4\System
regsvr32 L4SmrtTg.dll
(DllregisterSever in L4SmrtTg.dll succeeded)
Could my problem be that I have two different Folders for Logos (Logos4 and Logos) The logos.exe file is in the Logos folder?
I have gone to Control panel, programs and features, and tried to repair the Logos install.
Thanks for taking the time to help. Don S.
I just did what you suggested. It says "the system cannot find the path specified." I don't remember how to make a Bat file. If you could walk me through this, maybe that will work. Thanks for your help. My wife is frantic to get this working again, and disgusted that no one at Logos seemed to care when she called them earlier. Don
Here's what I did... Make sure you are out of Word and Logos
1) Open file explorer... In the left hand side you should see a Documents or My Documents selection (depending on the OS your using) click on it
2) This should take you to your documents directory... now on the right hand side you should see all your documents... in the white space between your documents. Right click and chose new and select the option "Text Document" When you do that it should create a new document called "New Text Document.txt" (make sure you can see that it ends in .txt)
3) Highlight it all (including the .txt) and replace it with SmrtTag.bat <press enter> Windows will pop a warning saying if you change a file name extension the file may be unusable ... are you sure... click YES
4) now you should have a .bat file... right click on it and type edit
5) this should open notepad cut and paste the following in:
CD C:\Users\Linda\AppData\Local\Logos\
Logos.exe /register
CD C:\Users\Linda\AppData\Local\Logos\System
regsvr32 L4SmrtTg.dll
CD C:\users\Linda
6) Substitute logos4 for logos if it doesn't work with Logos
7) SAVE this Bat
8) right click on the .Bat file you just created and select... "Run as Administrator"
9) Start up Logos
10) Start up Word and try it
Hope this helps,
(A different Bill)
Yes I did use Logos 4. Both files for Logos and for Logos4 registered successfully! When I go to Word and right click on the Scripture reference, nothing happens. I can go to options, proofing, actions and Logos Bible Software (Bible reference) is there and checked. And so is "enabled additional actions" checked for the right-click menu. But nothing happens in word. The L4SmrTg.dll file is from Oct 26, 2015. I am at a total loss now! Thanks again for your help!
Now those of us using 64 bit Office 2016 stil don't have a solution as Bradley said LSmtTg64.dll must be updated. I wonder if there is any news on this?
There should be an updated LSmtTg64.dll file in your "Logos\System" folder. If it's not there, there may be a problem with the installer; we'll investigate.
(If it is there, register it (with the 64-bit version of regsvr32.exe) and you should be good to go.)
If the install is not downloading it (especially for Verbum) any chance you can give us a link to the 64 bit version of LSmtTg64.dll that we could use in the interim?
Here: 2117.LSmtTg64.zip
Yes, on 64-bit Windows, "System32" contains 64-bit binaries.
Which is the same one used for the 32 bit Smart Tag dll?Nope, that's regsvr32 in the "SysWow64" folder.
First part understood, but I've used regsvr32 with C:\Windows\System32 as the current directory for the 32-bit Smart Tag e.g.
C:\Windows\System32 > regsvr32 “%LOCALAPPDATA%\Logos\System\L4SmrtTg.dll”

Woo hoo! It works! Thanks Bradley! For others I was sure to use the Regsvr32.exe in the C:\Windows\SysWOW64 folder, and I put the dll LSmTg64.dll in my %LOCALAPPDATA%\Verbum\System folder. If others are on Logos just substitute Logos for Verbum in this path:
C:\Windows\SysWOW64\regsvr32 “%LOCALAPPDATA%\Verbum\System\
Thanks Bradley!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I had the same problem. I have Office 2010 and Logos 6. The smart tag/build-in just disappeared. I was able to fix it. I closed my MS Word program. Went to Windows 10 Control Panel. Uninstalled a legacy version of Libronix still on my computer along with a Libronix smart tag file. I then clicked on Repair for my current version of Logos 6 and they are now back and it is working. Yea! I use it extensively.

6.8 Beta 1 should install the LSmtTg64.dll file for 64-bit Office. Also, please see the update PowerShell script RegisterSmartTags.ps1 discussed at https://community.logos.com/forums/p/105737/780081.aspx#780081
Have you tried the fix at https://wiki.logos.com/Smart_Tags#Smart_Tags_and_64-bit_Logos ?

I have 64 bit Windows System and it’s Word 2010 32 bit program.
I tried the Powershell script and get this error:
The term '%LOCALAPPDATA%\Logos\Logos.exe /register
regsvr32 %LOCALAPPDATA%\Logos\System\L4SmrtTg.dll' is not recognized as the name of a cmdlet, function, script file, or operable program. Check the spelling of the name, or if a path was included, verify that the path is correct and try again.
+ CategoryInfo : ObjectNotFound: (%LOCALAPPDATA%\...em\L4SmrtTg.dll:String) [], CommandNotFoundException
+ FullyQualifiedErrorId : CommandNotFoundException
I ran the Powershell script: RegisterSmartTags.ps1 and it says it was Finished successfully.
I ran a bat file I made that worked before (Dec 2nd 2015):
CD C:\Users\Linda\AppData\Local\Logos4
Logos.exe /register
CD C:\Users\Linda\AppData\Local\Logos\System
regsvr32 L4SmrtTg.dll
CD C:\users\Linda
I replaced a newer file L4SmrtTg.dll (Nov 3 2015) with an older file (Oct 26 2015) in the Logos/System directory.
Now it works. This is driving me nuts.
Thanks for your help.
