Please advertise how good logos is for...

A little reflection...

It seems to me that a good deal of the marketing focuses on accessing original languages without learning original languages. This is a major strength of Logos.

I think they could/should champion even more how Logos can help you to actually learn the original languages. Partly because I'm passionate to see more people do it. Partly because this is one of the things I've enjoyed most over the last few years.

Why is Logos awesome for this purpose?

1) Pronunciation Help.

2) Greek Audio Bible (Please make a Hebrew one). You can have it read to you while looking at the interlinear etc. This is a wonderful way to pic up pronunciation and vocabulary in context.

3) Cited by can find you every time a grammar mentions your passage!

4) Easily comparing translators notes and commentaries etc.

5) Word studies

6) Grammar searching

7) Highlighting by grammatical contructs

8) Flashcard app.

9) Scripture memorisation

10) Video courses

11) Symbols in SESB resources show a tooltip!

12) Very cheap price for all the resources.

And loads more.

I've actually heard people suggest there is no need to learn the original languages because they have Logos or other biblical software... I think this is a shame because while nobody needs to learn Hebrew or Greek I think there is a lot we gain by learning them and Logos is a fantastic aid in that learning process.

There is a need to learn the original languages. Although Logos is a great aid in learning, it should not be a substitute for putting in the work and effort to actually learn the languages.

I am definitely no scholar (or even a second year student) in any one of the 3 primary languages, but I do see the need to actually learn them.

Precisely what I have spent years lobbying for. Don't think you can take the easy road to the objective. You need to put in the effort.

Since we are discussing Logos being used for studying the original languages, is there anything Logos cannot do at this point that other software can? I have always heard that one other program in particular is the preferred choice for those who are "serious" about the languages. While I am certainly not a scholar, I have never run across a linguistic task I could not complete in Logos. I am puzzled whenever I hear the often repeated stereotype, as it is almost never accompanied by any specific examples.

For me Logos has probably set me back a little in terms of my greek skills. But that is my own fault.

I am no greek expert by any means. I have had two semesters of greek, and have translated 1 john as an assignment. So shame on me, and those of you that learn should use their skills and not use logos as a crutch like I have.

Am a person who loves in-depth Bible Study in the Word of God; studying every day for hours on end, I always utilize the Hebrew and Greek resources in LOGOS which has tremendously helped me learn what the original words mean in the Greek, Hebrew, and Aramaic; especially the "AMG BIBLE ESSENTIALS."
