Smart Tags with Office for Mac

Sorry if this has been asked, I couldn't find it. I am trying to learn to use my software for all its worth and have just learned about Smart Tags. What I learned was for PC apparently because the video didn't match my Macbook's Word program. I have MS Word for Mac 2011 Version 14.5.7 and I am running the new El Capitan operating software. Thoughts or suggestions?

On the Mac, you'll want to use the Logos Services to insert Bible verses into word processors. Open your Mac's System Preferences and click on Keyboard. On the Keyboard panel, click Shortcuts at the top and then Services in the left column. There are two Logos services. The first is under the Text heading and is named "Replace with Passage (Logos)". Make sure it's checked and note the shortcut (which you can change to whatever you like).

Then scroll down to the General heading to find the other service: "Open Copy Bible Verses (Logos)" Do the same for that one.

Personally, I use the Replace with Passage service. You type the passage you want to insert into your document (e.g., Heb 1:3-4), select it, and then type the shortcut for the service.

Sometimes it can be a bit finicky to get set up, some have had to restart their computers after checking the services in preferences. Report back if you have trouble, and we'll help.

Oh thank you. I think I found the commands, but I don't have a "General Heading" in this section. Instead just above "Replace with Passage" there is a check box that says "Copy Bible Verse." I have both checked now, but will have to wait to restart the computer to see if this did the trick, it didnt work without restarting.

But, I will say that you probably aren't running the latest version of Logos (6.7). They changed the name of the services by adding "(Logos)" to them, and moved one to the General heading. This was to fix a problem with the services not working for some people.

I recommend you download and install the latest version: https://www.logos.com/install

Then you will have to recheck the services.

It was odd because when I checked my Logos version it was the latest version it said. The problem was, I hadn't restarted the computer lately, and therefore some of the important changes hadn't taken place. Once I did that, it was exactly as you said. Thank you so much for your help, thats a nice shortcut!
