A Sneak Heads-up On What's Coming out of Pre-pub soon ...

I have just receieved email notification that the Tyndale Commentaries (TNTC and TOTC) are shipping and that my credit card had been discharged accordingly. Great, thought I, now I just have to wait for the cd to arrive, wait for the post-office to tell that there are customs duties to pay, and their handling fee, wait for them to actually deliver it, and then install it on L3, synch liciences, do the bizarre black-magic that gets L4 to read my L3 files, and hey ... I'll be able to read them.

Imagine my surprise to find that they were already on my L4! Not only that, but a quick look at ftp:logos.com/lbxbooks revealled that the files were already up in L3 format. So I've downloaded them to L3.

So ... I now have them (unlocked) in both L3 and L4. So when the Post-Office tells me that the cd is waiting for me, and has customs fees to pay .... why shouldn't I just ignore it and not pay? Technical or moral answers welcome!

Extra interesting, on the ftp site there are also the L3 files for a number of pre-pubs that have not been released yet. Things like Berkhof and Hodge's collections. However, if you download them, they remain locked, as ... obviously ... our accounts haven't been charged for them yet.

So ... even more good things are coming!

No moral or technical answers here, just sympathy for the situation you and others are in. Someone at Logos needs to make it possible to get everything downloadable and give you the option to edit your pre-pubs to request downloads only. The situation as it is is confusing and unnecessary.

Please, Logos, get this worked out or Fire Someone Today (some of you will get the reference).

Well Damian,

That just blew the theory I proposed in a previous thread that it was part of the third party license agreement requiring you break the physical seal of the package to accept the agreement.

Now there is no reason I can think of not to do likewise with the IVP collection or the Word Biblical Commentary set. (That is, download them.)

Just change your shipping address to my house and I will destroy the physical package when you give me clear direction to do so. That will save you the international shipping and customs. (I am being serious here folks.)

And of course it happens on a weekend when you can't ask for an official "WHY"![:O]

Haven't some on the forums been able to get the download only by calling customer services? I can't remember if they were able to do this for ALL future purchases, but if my memory is anywhere close to on target, I thought they could flag the account somehow not to ship physical product....

It'd sure be worth a call and/or an email, wouldn't it?

OK so I do have them.... I tried several things to find them - but mine are missing the series metadata (which has been fixed for some).

So, I'm happy that they're there.

But, why am I paying for postage?

Try checking your credit card itself. I got the e-mail along with the amount charged, including shipping. Like others, I was surprised to find the resources already unlocked. When the charge appeared on my card though, it was just for the basic amount - the shipping had not been charged although it had been indicated on the e-mail.
