PRE-PUB: I need your help, please

Howdy,

I really want to get my hands on Gerard Weil's Massorah Gedolah and I can't because not enough of you people have signed up for the pre-pub.

Try to buy this book. You might find a copy from time to time, but it's going to be a real bear to get your hands on.

I think if more people studied the notes contained in the massorah, there would be better understanding of God's Word. And it's a very interesting topic - it is the very real Bible Code, unlike the word games that some people waste their time with.

Hey---we aren't supposed to engage in theological debates here! I'm not afraid to call you on this, either--even if you do look like Mr T. No one on the A-Team could shoot, anyway... the body count was always inversely proportional to the amount of ammunition expended, which was prodigious!

This resource set is ALMOST at 100%. The price on this set is very good as well, considering the material that is available.

We only need a few more folks that understand the value of using the Massorah along with their Hebrew texts and we can launch this into production. Those of you with the Portfolio collection DON'T HAVE this gem. [:D]

It’s a bit beyond where I’m at in my Hebrew study now, but I’m contemplating it perhaps for later in case I do get back into Hebrew and go further with it. And I've just fired off an email to a friend who is editor for the Westminster Hebrew Morphology in case he hasn't jumped in on this yet. He's the type who would definitely be interested.

Well, when I saw this thread, it seemed a bit of a stretch for me. I already have the massorah PDFs but they are really a pain to use and take forever when you're trying to check for something. So, I signed on. I figure by the time they could get done, my budget will be back on track. Appreciate your interest, Mike. The pre-pub signup model is really a nice one.

Yeah, those Massorah PDF files are a pain to use. I am fortunate enough to have the 4 volume printed set here of Ginsburg's collation of the Massorah. I wish that he'd have produced the 5th volume, with the rubrics for the rest of the Hebrew alphabet that were never completed in volume 4, which is where he started his English explanations. I'm anxious to see what Weil did for the Massorah of BHS - even though Weil never finshed that before he died.

THANK YOU for signing up for this pre-pub. I think that it will be very interesting to see what notes the Leningrad Codex has that Weil gathered up vs. what Ginsburg gathered together. Some of the notes are very interesting, such as Ginsburg''s contention that before the first inverted nun in Numbers chapter 10 constitutes the first book of Numbers, the verse between the two inverted nuns in Numbers constitutes the second book of Numbers, and after the second nun the text constitutes the third book of Numbers. He brings this forth in his Massoretico-Critical Edition of the Hebrew Bible. Interesting stuff, those notes in the Massorah.

I've just signed up. Like you I've got SESB 3.0 and the price is an absolute steal when you consider you're getting some really good stuff with it. The Masorah Gedolah is worth its weight in gold. And being able to integrate it in Logos with the Hebrew text is a wonderful idea. All that power, just a right-click away! [:D]

You're absolutely right, of course. There's nothing like delving into the original languages, though I can only do Latin, Greek, Hebrew and Aramaic. I'd love to learn Syriac and Coptic too, but hey, there are only 24 hours in a day. And I've got three sermons a week to prepare and I'm doing a part-time PhD at Aberdeen University.

Hope more people sign up and get it "Under Contract" soon.
