Hi All,
My mac won't stop indexing Logos 6.
Any ideas?
I did a system reboot, now Logos 6 won't start up at all.
Hi,
Thank you for your reply. That did not work. It seems it won't allow me to attach the file. I click insert an nothing happens.
What is the size of the zip file? Perhaps just try uploading the logos.log file.
The file is 7.9mb. I have tried to upload both the LogosLogs zip and the Console Message.Log and no good. Obviously I'm doing something wrong.
7.9 mb is kind of large. You are using the paperclip icon, navigating to the file, and clicking "upload," right? How much time do you give it? Try something ridiculous like 5 minutes.
Did you try unzipping the folder to get to the logos.log file? Normally you would not want to do that, but if you can't upload the file otherwise, it would be worth a try. If that doesn't work, call customer service.
Hope this works

The only log that appeared is the Console log. Can you follow the instructions in our "crash" article here https://www.logos.com/support/logos6/mac/crash. It sounds like you already tried the first option, you will likely want to move on to the second one and see if it is relevant to you.
As I said, the only log file that was posted was the Console log. That means either Logging was not enabled properly, or the tool doesn't have permissions to access the Logging folder. In the past this has meant at times that the user account did not have access to the Logos4 folder. When you went through step two I'm assuming you saw your user account listed, and you had full read write prmissions on the Logos4 folder?
Affirm...
Logos 4 ..."locked" box = Unchecked.
Username..."Me" = Read and Write ...trying it again
The Logos Logging Utility says; You must restart Logos for the exchanges to take affect...but of course that is the problem. Here is the latest .zip from it.

For future reference, a picture of what you're describing would probably be more clear, but it seems everything is in order. There isn't a whole lot more we can do with the amount of information we have though. It would be best if you called us at your earliest convenience. We're open Mon-Fri (except Thanksgiving this week) 6am-6pm PDT. The phone number is 800-875-6467.
I contacted support and they got Logos running again. phew...BUT I still have original problem. My indexing is stuck at 0%...Left the mac running all night...still 0%.
Rebooted it without wi-fi - still indicates 0% any thoughts?
still indicates 0% any thoughts?
What kind of storage drive do you have? Capacity? Free space?
Hmm. I am not overly worried about the free space. I do notice the amount of video and audio. Any performance issues?
Please provide new logs. Use the utility.
This is the latest Logos Logging Utility zip.
So even though I manage to get Logos running I can't access all resources as I get a yellow bar and; "Some search results may be missing or incorrect while your library is being updated."
No problems with Mac elsewhere.

This means the Library Catalog has not finished indexing. The interesting thing is the log is from 11/25 at 6:54AM runs for 2 minutes, and seems to indicate that the Library Catalog Index is still running. When you say you've let Logos run all night, are you shutting the lid of hte computer or putting it to sleep over night?

I am going to settings and never letting computer sleep. Then just walking away from my mac. I am at the point where I think I may just cancel my logos 6 and use another app. I will stop downloading new updates today.
I haven't been able to use logos for the past 3 sermons, rather been using Bible-reader, and the sermons are still coming together. So I may just give it this next week.

Have you tried calling customer service? That may be your best bet.
Yes I did call customer service (from rural Australia) they told me to post it here.
Also, if this helps...
1. I can't pause the indexing.
2. Indexing icon does not show up on the top of my desktop - next to date/time.
You said that you might "cancel" your "logos 6." Are you subscribing to Logos Cloud or Logos Now?
Yes I subscribe to Logos now
These logs record less than a minute of up time from the application. It begins at 12/02/2015 06:16:05 and ends at 12/02/2015 06:16:49. I'm pretty sure your LibraryCatalog just needs to be rebuilt from scratch.
Lets have you rebuild your Library Catalog.
This shouldn't take as long as a normal re-index, and shouldnt' take that long depending on the size of your library. If it doesn't go away inside of an hour or two post logs immediately after that time period. And as stated before, don't shut the lid of the machine during the process.
Solution! (For now?)
Thanks Tommy for suggestion, I will use that if it re-occurs, but I seemed to have solved the problem through a lot of painful trial and error. And yes it seems so simple...now!
There seemed to have be a corruption in the downloading of new updates affecting the indexing and through this corruption the indexing would not stop, let alone allow it to be paused.
Solution.
1. On starting Logos immediately right clicked Logos icon (next to date) before it vanishes.
2. Quickly pause indexing.
3. Download updates.
4. Shut down Logos.
5. Re-start Mac.
6. Start Logos.
7. Indexing when for roughly 1hr 45 mins.
It seems so simple now. But it took a couple phone-calls, a little frustration and a lot of extra grey hairs.
I pray it remains stable, I will post if problem re-occurs and the results to a complete library re-load (which is what I will do should it re-occur).
